Another view

Agp has informed me that unless your really pushing the envelope(1100 or so hp+) this really won't do you much good to upgrade to

people get hung up on the new cold side plenum but the best power I have found by far is merely ditching the 3" - 4" reduction air filter. Turbo guards were worth 100 verifiable horsepower.

I'm too afraid of running those for a street car. I do feel bad whenever I see the sucked in filters on my car though. If they look like that sitting there, I can't imagine what they look like under high boost.

Go Pro !

The guard was worth 100hp compared to exactly which filters/setup ? Same boost etc ?

I never thought of mounting a Go Pro to see how they react... I may have to do that after I get a Go Pro or something similar

Other option if you have any logging ability, is a pressure sensor ( MAP or anything that will read vacuum ) and poke a little test tube into the filter area to see if there is a large or any restriction there under load.

I'm heavily restricted for space for my filters and the smallest I could find were some Greddy Mushroom style foam filters. Now they dont really filter for shit but would be miles better than any screen. And I was pleasantly surprised to find that even under heavy load there was only around a 50kpa restriction which really isnt much at all.

When space is tight, at least these mushrooms can draw air from anywhere. A K&N style with a closed lid, immediately kills some area from where it can draw air from.

Would be nice to see Holdener and the Motor Trend guys dyno test that recent TT SBE engine they made 1500hp with, by slapping on various filters to it to see what happens

K&N 5111 with the silicon elbows that AGP provides in the kit . they are a 4" to 3" reduction. I love the design of the stock AGP setup for street car, dont get me wrong . The dyno however likes with out.

Yeah I know. I am not a 100% sold on needing to have the revised plenum for 1100 rwhp or less builds.

I was just curious as to what setup you have because most of the people that have figures above 1100 rwhp were mostly done at ADM and I think they automatically do the revision.

I am planning for a 427 LSX and I am gonna SEND IT with the kit "as is" shooting for 1050-1100 rwhp. I've taken care of the fuel setup already so after I get the engine I'll just start replacing stuff as it breaks. LOL!

We's in the same boat. Soon....soon.... It'll start out with my 56/61mm 0.63ar twins to test the waters up to 1000rwhp. Then it's time for the 65's and maybe, maybe not, the new plenum (shooting for +1200rwhp).

I pull my air filters and mufflers for the dyno and the track.

Mine are directly on the turbos, their 169mm base with 4" fitting.

In terms of compactness, they're actually brilliant, even more so how the 4" rubber sleeve is installed to the filter and then turbo which makes fitting in an extremely tight area very easy.

Mine isnt a Gen5, but my twins are down low, very low on my car and the turbos are tight against the suspension cross member. So I really only have about 4" of clearance total between turbo inlet and obstructions. So these worked out ideal.

Not a great filter by any means, but best of a bad bunch for something that can be usable.
