Z/28 Wins @ Indy!

CTSCC: Liddell, Davis take Camaro to victory at Indy
Friday, 25 July 2014

It was another big day for Chevrolet at Indianapolis Motor Speedway as Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis ran away with Round 8 of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, winning by 3.494 seconds in their Camaro Z/28.R.

Trent Hindman and John Edwards finished second in their BMW M3, but had nothing for a Stevenson Motorsports team that has now won three consecutive races.

The BMW M3 of Shelby Blackenstock and Joey Atterbury rounded out the Grand Sport podium, which celebrated in a light drizzle beneath the iconic IMS pagoda.

Remo Ruscitti’s Porsche Cayman was poised to win Street Tuner as the white flag waved, but his car lost power on the final lap and Corey Lewis took advantage by driving his Porsche Cayman to Victory Lane.

Great news, a guy on one of the other threads said the Z/28 was not a race car.

I just found that Mustang site with ThePill.

What a character.

But I'm curious, since the race series rules dictate 400HP dyno HP max, where is he getting the Z/28.R having 100HP more than the other cars?

All I can find is that it must run a GM factory sealed engine, locked ECM, 75mm restrictor, and 6300 rpm rev limiter. Does he really think the stock tune and cam will make 500HP at 6300 with a restrictor? Or does he know something?

He's very concerned (obsessed) with weighing things. But in the next breath, he says the important part of any engine is displacement, not power, size, or weight.

Guess he's never seen a Hayabusa engine before? Power to weight and size are pretty critical for a locomotion device. How many valves, rotors, cams, pistons, etc, are pretty meaningless in and of themselves. You want a small engine, that weighs little, is durable, and makes power. And the LS7 is light, small, durable, and makes power compared to many other V8 designs.

Other curious note about ThePill's theory that the Camaros are overpowered. The fastest lap in practice was a Mustang 302R?

This is great!

However...I was going to watch the televised race since I couldn't see it online. Instead of announcing the results please provide a spoiler alert in the thread title. Thanks.
