Shim Steering Column

Anyone ever do this to lower the steering wheel height? I did mine today to drop the steering wheel approx. 1 inch so I can see the high beam and winker signals.

I would say 1" is pretty extreme, because I'm a mechanical Designer and a few things should be looked at, at that point. I haven't a dog in the hunt, but prepared for all the trolls to jump on you for screwing with something that directly impacts the crash behavior.

It shouldn't effect crash behavior, just adding shims between the mount. Adding a 1/8th inch shim tilts the entire column assembly aprox 1 inch at the wheel. ALL the cars in the 70s and 80s into 90 uses them to set the steering wheel height. This 5th Gen Camaro steering wheel configuration is ridicules at best. Its so high and short you feel like you are driving a old VW bus. I may pull the entire assembly and remount it so the steering wheel is in the adjustable range of most humans..........The lowest setting for the wheel should be the highest then it should adjust down from there.

Its the 1st thing I did to my new Jeep Wrangler, that had a similar configuration that was very uncomfortable.
