The extra stock resonator on the L99 exhaust did help with the 4cyl activation sound. I quickly tuned that out before going into my aftermarket exhaust, but it truly wasn't so bad.

Just like how the stock v6 system sounded pretty good. The loud ones never sounded nice to me. Never did go out of my way to put an exhaust on my 1LS.

I like the sound my car makes, but I wouldn't describe it as excessively noisy. Honestly, it's probably louder IN the car than outside of it.

Definitely sounds better than the old 01 did though. That thing sounded like a damn lawnmower.

I always run premium and mine is not noisy at all except at idle particularly during a cold start.

I don't know how you could not use premium on this high reving engine. It performs so much better (drivability wise at least) with premium than using regular.
It wasn’t gentle. Those were at least full throttle V6 flatulents. Tuned ‘em out last fall.

My 6 has never tapped using 91-93. but the DI struggle is real! just hit 30k and should've canned the system a long time ago. I can feel the valves gumming up!

91 octane is the highest available here and for an experiment I did try running 87 for a few months. The exhaust tips carboned up pretty good so it was pulling wayyy to much timing. I wish 93 were available.

And it does remind me of a family members old 308 GTS back in the day. Doubters can suck it and continue hugging those boat anchors.

Anyone else notice this, seems to me this direct injected engine has a different sound to it compared to port fuel injected engines.
Since when is a V6 capable of hard acceleration?

I'm hoping that's what is in there now but who knows. I'm positive what it was doing with regular fuel in it was accelerate-pull timing back and forth constantly as the weather got warmer. I believe it was switching between tables. The dealer service dept I'm dealing with is really good, the top service advisor knows these cars well. He told me right out untuned expect 18-21 mpg local and poor throttle response. That poor throttle response is the torque management that he says is way over done to get the cars out of warranty. Now show me another dealer that's that honest?

That honest dealer can tell you if the car has a tune in about two seconds, with their techII. Ask them to check, and if car was bought there and is a CPO it doesn't have a tune.

They said they can not, I gotta believe them OR they just don't know how. So far they have been good to deal with.

Yes we can tell fairly quickly it has a tune other than a factory, however we cannot tell what has been changed.
