I invite you to come visit me in D/FW Texas, come on down around mid August and we'll take a ride around town. I suspect you will gain a whole new perspective on the "need" for AC. LOL

Interested in a shut off valve as well the “warm” air from outside when it isn’t even hot out has always bothered me as well.

Careful blocking off your heater hoses. Great way to add extra air into the heater core, allowing more chance of corrosion/leaks/issues.

If you air gets ice cold when you have the heater core effectively shut off, then I would think you are having a blend door issue. If it was working right, you wouldn't be feeling the heat from that coming through. The shut off valve might solve the problem, but it isn't fixing the issue.

Only drive with the convertible top down. I wouldn't even know if the ac/heater was even working.

To answer the DFW question above. We did the same when we lived in Houston. No such thing as too hot out to have the top down.

I used to cook to death when I had cats. Not nearly as bad without. Just something to consider as an adjunct solution to these hot cars. My ac does work pretty well though.

Hell, I thought all that heat was coming off that fire-breathing V8 under the hood. Sure you didn’t miss a couple cylinders in that rocket, Rockin?

i checked my vent air output after reading this thread this morning; air temp is equal to exterior ambient temp.

OP, From your last post, I see your strategy with the manual cable control on it. You can infinitely adjust the valve, not just shut the water flow on and off. And no electrical wiring or vacuum hoses or switches to run.

Interesting....my car blow ice cold air. Last year when I picked it up in Kansas City about 2 hrs from my house it was around 100° out. Car cooled down super fast and actually I had to dial the fan speed down and blend in a little heat to keep from getting too cold.

check your vent temp while driving. Mine is warmer at idle. I think the fan doesn't draw enough air through the condenser. Driving down the freeway will freeze you right out of the drivers seat in mine.

Another epic thread. He's had more issues in 3 months than I've had in my Last 3 vehicles.
