-puts thier maro in storage and disconnects the battery, when i finally take delivery on my 2ss, i will be puting it up when the salt hits the road. i was thinking of pulling the battery,, guess i wont. i cant believe they dont have a hot hook up under the hood?? what if the battery dies. have had a new one go bad with a dead short within months on new vehicles before. stuff happens. kind of a pita. oh well, guess i,ll be driving 10 miles to start it evry couple of weeks. maybe even on a shot batt, the remote would pop the trunk.

Not sure I understand... Why can't you disconnect the battery? Just remove the negative cable from the post.

btw, there is a "jump" post under the hood (drivers side) that you can use in an emergency.

There are quite a few people that do exactly what you are wanting to do.....you could in one of the regional forums UP NORTH that would be a better place to put your post.

Best advice, just move SOUTH! LOL

I drive mine year 'round. The state of SC doesn't even buy salt, no need for it here!

Right on. Can you put all of us up for the winter?

I only drive my 2010 when the weather is good and the roads are clear and dry, like today. Otherwise, it is safe and sound and dry and warm in the shop.

Nov 1st mine gets put away for the winter. I just let it sit and start it once a week to get the juices flowing. I move it in and out of the garage (if no snow) to get fresh gas or just so no flat spots on tires. If heavy salt on road then out comes the gas can fill up.

Chicago and chicago burbs love the spreading heavy salt here.

I have a Battery Tender on my 65 Mustang when I don't drive it during the summer her is AZ as it is over 110 most of the time.

The battery tender works quite well, and since there is a positive terminal under the hood of the Camaro it would be easy to hook it up. Just make sure if you are going to store your vehicle for awhile you put in Sta-Bil, which is a gas stablizer. You can get it at any autoparts store or even Wal-mart. Gas starts to go bad after 30 days and Sta-bil will keep the gas from doing that. Put in the correct amount, run the car around the block and shut her off. When you pull her out of storage no problems either starting the car or from having bad gas.

I covered and let her sit most of the winter. You can still drive it in the winter bro. I won't bring it out in snow but I drove a bit last winter.

Of course you can jump the battery from under the hood. If you are worried about the batteries condition, pull from the trunk, take home with you and hook up to a battery tender plus.

Im also in AZ and use a battery tender, but the battery is outa the car. Car cover on with the windows about 1 1/2 inchs down. I put fuel stabilizer in the gas tank and let it run for 10 min, so all the fuel lines and tank are protected. and all 4 tires are about 1/2inch off the ground on jack stands, and tires air takin down to about 5lbs of air.

Main reasons for doing this, I work in Afghanistan, I dont want it stolen, I dont want cracks in the tires so the tire guy told me to take most of the air outa them and put the car on jackstands, & I dont want my wife or her brother driving it.

Other then my house burning down and not being able to get the car out fast enough, Im good! "I guess thats what they have insurance for"

probably not an issue for you. But up here it gets cold enough that it's a good idea to remove the battery for the winter alltogether. I take it right out and keep it in the basement warm and dry. Our winters can freeze a battery and make it swell, and eventually explode.

before winter storage for a vehicle (if it's going to be a few months before you turn the key again) you should:

- get your tank as empty as possible, and pour in stabilizer before you fill up. the drive home should be enough to fill your lines and injectors with stabilizer.

- park it, remove battery and keep in warm dry place.

- car cover

- begin trip to insanity because you can't drive the camaro for 5 months haha

at least that's how it goes here. Your winter length may vary haha.
