NRT V2

well...I took a trip today with the V2's installed. I am not a happy camper. There is a ton of resonance between 75 and 80 mph. It is a drone that is very annoying to me and the passenger that was with me....my daughter. At 70 it isn't bad but with the cruise set at 78 it is not good!! Has anyone else encountered this? If I can't fix it someone is going to get a good deal on a 2 day old set of V2's.

Hmm sry to hear that, I haven't heard of anyone else complaining about the v2.0s having resonance/drone. Just curious, don't think it matters, but did you have them welded on or did you just clamp em.

Just an F.Y.I. you typoed in your title

They are clamped on. I just checked to be sure all is tight and there are no leaks....and all looks fine. I have had dozens of systems on various cars...I have owned 82...and this is the worst I have had. It is only there at that one speed/rpm range but it is a harmonic drone that resonates through your ears. Disappointing to say the least.

Actually it is due to it being clamped on. If it is welded on the resonance goes away after about 500mi due to it toning down a bit.

probably so you can do it yourself. Welding is usually better than bolt on.

Why wouldn't it still tone down if it was bolted? It's just the metal becoming seasoned, right?

I can weld myself but......IF all is tight and there are no leaks what is the physical difference? IF that is the case then MRT needs to add the footnote...IF drone is encountered then welding should take care of it. There is no such note. I have installed dozens of exhaust systems.....from the 50's and 60's cars to current and have never seem a difference if all is tight and done properly.

If someone wants a deal on these PM me and well see what we ca work out.

Mine are NOT welded on... There is no real reason to weld them on... welding is really not going to make a difference.. more than likely the system "seasoned" in between the time of install and when they were welded on..

To OP, sorry about your experience... again, everyone is very different and drone is a very personal thing.. No one has ever complained about drone in my car and have probably 25,000+ miles on my MRT Ver 2.0... And we certainly have a number of MRT owners here... Sorry it's not working out for you.. Perhaps give it a bit of time to "season".
