Fantastic. It just depends. If I test drive a V6 and its fun to drive and at least SEEMS fast, then Ill go for it. If it actually feels like im doing 0-6 in 6 seconds, then Ill be taking you up on that offer.

Go for the 1SS, right? DUH!

But.... cloth seats???? 31 grand for a car and sit on thread? I MUST HAVE LEATHER!

So where can I get it? Does anyone know of leather seats available that will fit/look good in the Camaro? Or of anyone who wraps seats in leather for reasonable prices?

Thanks in advance, gents!

Your insurance wont let you take anything off the car, they sell the car for salvage to recover some of their cost. You taking the leather seats/covers would not make them too happy even if you can pull it off. I'd Imagine the car is sitting at an impound somewhere were you have limited access to it.

It all depends on what he negotiates with his insurance company. I know many guys who took cash AND the car.

If that's the case in your state (or Country) I'm sure they did not take the full amount from the insurance. Also laws vary from state to state in Florida if the car is totalled you cannot keep it and it cannot be rebuilt. Don't know what's the case in Louisiana.

That's true - the insurance company will title it as salvage or in this case, unrepairable and thus it would be only to part the car out on E-bay. Yes my friends cash settlement was much lower than if they had let the insurance company take the car but they figured in the end, they did well.

In the US (states I have lived in) you negotiate with the insurance company to keep the car and cash, and you don't get the same amount you would if you didn't want the car. Usually if there are parts to be salvaged (and you can do that sort of thing-most people can't or don't want to) you can really make out because the amount the insurance company knocks off the cash payout isn't too bad.

Many states in the US will allow a car to be rebuilt and sold with a salvaged title, so there are places where a car that is deemed "totaled" can be bought and rebuilt and after an inspection given a "salvaged" title, which would impact the value.

Well, i would go with the 2SS if i really wanted leather seats. That is why it is an option.

I faced this dilemma as well. I didn't really want a lot of the gadgets on the 2SS and really just wanted a 1SS but with leather. My dealer (Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, TX) told me that they could do leather on the seats themselves. I didn't ask them the price, because I wanted it to be factory. But they'll do it.

I am the opposite. I want to get all the gadgets and still get cloth. I don't think I am getting the car till 2010 though.
