It looks like he used sticky shield. Is 1/8" too thick? Im sure it compresses some?

Nathan please chime in when you get a chance! ill probably be buying one or the other soon

Notice how it says it's for radiant heat? You couldn't use it for the intake manifold.

Yep, I saw that page on their site. Was trying to figure out how to send them an email - it'd be nice if they made something for the camaro. One can dream right?

Stig, do you think the 1/8" is too thick to put under the manifold like nathan did above? I can just cut the 1' x 2' sheet to fit. It looks like it can compress somewhat.

I figure if you can get the bolts to torque then you should be good.

And what I meant by the radiant heat thing was that its not designed to be right up against the heat source.

Lava shield says this: This heat shield barrier cloth, can be used with less than 1" of airspace, 3/8" minimum is recommended. Bulk rolls of basalt heat shield cloth are available.

Sticky Shield says this: This HP Sticky Shield can be used with less than 1 inch of airspace, however when used with 1 inch or more airspace, it is capable of shielding up to 90 percent of radiant heat.

Both are for radiant heat, and need air space to work to their full potential. But I assume they would do something over nothing. At the least they can delay the heatsoak, which can help at the track.

Reason I mentioned lava shield is because the other ones say that they shouldn't be put directly next to the heat source.

I would call Pace Performance and ask them about their LS manifold heat shields. you can ask them all the questions you want, as they have been a big part in the development with Heatshield Products.

Hey guys, here are a couple of pics after Justin and I did a mock-up with the plastic engine.

The radiator appears to be floating from inside the engine bay. You can't see any brackets holding it up. The shroud in the pic is a mock-up. The one we are using was custom made by Derale. We will post pics when we get it from powder coating.
