PSI

Hi guys and Gals I have a question and hope u all can help, yesterday i notice that my oil pressure needle on my gauges was all the way to the right pass the PSI area. It usually stays somewhere in the middle. Is this a bad thing, what does this mean? Please any advice would be appreciated...Thanks everyone

Means you need to take it to the dealer and have them run a diagnostic . Does it still have its powertrain warranty?

Uhh, yeah that is not normal. If it was all the way pegged out than there is a problem some where.

I would say the sending unit went out. When you turn on the key does the needle move?

I'd take it to the dealer then. What Black Diamond says may be true. But if it's constantly pegged, then drive it to the dealership asap. You don't want to run it with that much pressure going through the motor. You could damage a seal, likely the rear main.

Not understanding what you mean.....are you saying it is showing the needle to the left or right? If it's showing 0, then it could be the pump which is not good at all. If its all the right at 70 I think it is, then it could be what Black Diamond said.

Ahh ok gotcha. I was confused on the last part of the post. If the dealer isn't too far, I would just take it there. You are still under warranty so it wouldn't cost you anything. Tell them what you are seeing. Could be something big or could just be the sensor. You never know.

When you start the car it should sweep all of the way to the right then left, then to what oil psi. My car runs about 35psi at a idle. If it is reading max psi then coming back down when you stop something is wrong. I dont know if I would drive it until you find out whats wrong. You don't want to wipeout your motor.

Yes. You don't want to drive it until you know what the problem is just like Black Diamond said.
