I have this cam and have an ECS kit that I am going to have installed in March. Do you think your failure was related to the cam?

I do not know. The two reasons I got from the fest when I asked everyone was either improper install or bad cam harness.

The third was wrong springs but I know that was not the case.

That does not necessarily mean those are the answers so I really do not know.

Great thread PQ! I don't have a cam....YET, but I am considering one this year. I'm very interested in this type of poll to see if there is a trend. I get very nervous when I read about all the carnage lately but I also know that it is probably a small percentage of cams out there that actually fail. I hope you are able to get yours all sorted this year and get that beast back on the road!

Thanks everyone for the participation. I'll go through all of it and try and put it all together at some point in a neat consolidation somehow when we get a really good pool.

Feel free to add info you feel relevant and I'll update the OP to coincide.

Too many factors should not be a problem.

It lasted a few years yes. Not sure what to tell you other than if you are not in a hurry to check this thread for info.

There will be people that will not participate because their cams are fine. Probably more likely to see failed guys on here. We'll see.

We use only 3-bolt cams, Valvoline/Royal Purple/Amsoil/Redline/Joe Gibbs for oil and anything but Fram for a filter.
Curious. What did those cams look like. My cam is comp and close to that time frame.

You'd think a cam would be. Not sure on that one.

Internals as in rotating assembly? Would be interesting.

L99 owners should consider spending the extra couple grand and going straight to a blower. I'm starting to hear about stock cam/stock valve train L99's with over 100k miles and a blower.
I was blown only til my car and I obviously regret the cam.

There are a lot of cammed C6 Corvettes out there - maybe even more than Camaros. I don't go on any of their forums is the reason I ask.
Not really sure. I never read there.

I no longer have to take medication....for now.

Good luck PQ and hope to read about your new power plant soon.
Ya. It sucked. Still does.

Correct. Such as what type of springs/push rods where they using? Did they ever do a trunion upgrade? etc... Just wondering if some of these failures may be caused from someone not wanting to spend the extra money and get quality parts.

Would be good to know of any valve train mods such as which springs, trunnions, pushrods, etc and also oil pump if changed.

I'll tell you what. Let's make a list of all we want and we can request it be a sticky and a new thread once we get our list?

PQ that is a great idea for a sticky with video attachments for those of us who will be doing or considering a cam install. My car is scheduled to go under the knife February 1st.
