Oil consumption question...........

I'll make the history quick.

Rebuilt engine. Forged, cammed and blown.

Magnuson TVS2300, small blower cam. (I'll get the specs when I get to work)

Been using about a quart of oil per thousand miles.
Low vacuum (11 inches) and has a bouncing needle. (all of my other 3 cars including a C6 LS2 have steady needles on vacuum)

Bypassed the PCV and vented to atmosphere with a breather on the clean side. Still consuming.

No leaks under the car or anywhere on the engine.

Compression test and leak down test show great.

ALL 8 spark plugs have wet oil on the threads. Burn is good however on the plugs.

I felt that it was the valve stem seals. Couldn't think of anything else it could be. I've heard that if they are bad enough that it could cause loss in vacuum AND oil loss. Not sure about THIS much oil loss but still a factor.

Head gasket is obviously not it. Neither is a bad block or heads. ALL 8 spark plugs have oil.

My machine shop, and assembler, said he highly doubts guide seals since he says he would have noticed them being too big. At least big enough to be the cause of my symptoms.

His brainstorm is low tension oil rings. Says that may be what happened. I had all parts provided by a parts shop that works with the shop.

What is the likely hood of oil rings being wrong? And would a vacuum system in the crank case fix this if so?

Total pain in the ass here. Another tear down if this isn't figured out. And maybe even if it is.

Venting to the air defeats all evacuation and leaves most all the damaging compounds in the crankcase reducing your oils ability to protect....your shortening engine life considerably. As for consumption, even though your leak-down looks good, you may still have a piston/ring issue w# 6&7 looking at the plugs. Worth tearing down and inspecting close to see if any indication of that top ringland pinched or even gunked up w/residue preventing those rings from moving freely.

This pic can be deceveing as the plugs look different if I were to flip them. Also I have only vented to outside corn the past 500 miles or so to check. It's filtered with the rag.

All 8 plugs do look the same if you see all sides.
