I'm old and busted, so I wanted the auto.

Then I researched A8 torque converter shudder occurring with low mileage since 2015 in the Vette and trucks, Camaro starting 2016.

Now it's manual for me, unless they redesign the auto, or if the A10 is more torque converter reliable - but it uses the same exact flawed design elements.
Not sure how far you dug into it but the issue is not a defect by all accounts here. More so a material/machining issue since fluid flushes done early enough fix the issue. The TC is only replaced if the issue went on long enough to damage it. This in principle is no different than the issue that plagued some of the early LT1s resulting in engine failure. Also there have been more actual failures of the M6 than the A8 last I heard. So if you are going to get a M6, make sure it's because that is what you want. Not because of a quality issue affecting only some of the A8s. Quite a few of us have had no problems at all.

Your last point^^^exactly. Act like you've been there before. I bought an A8 this time for the same reason I chose kalahari interior instead of black. I wanted to experience something new and different.

I've owned and daily driven so many manuals that it not a big deal. I'll own another manual but wanted to experience one of these great new autos. I'm not disappointed.

Love to hear no problems. Forums naturally attract dissatisfied experiences - it's only human.

Everyone pls take a moment to post positive feedback if you have had a trouble-free experience.

Unless you live in the city, or have a medical issue, I see no good reason why anyone in their right mind would buy a sports car without a manual transmission - and dont give me that its .2 sec faster to sixty bs. 98% of the time you're not on the drag strip or track, you're on the road enjoying the experience of driving the car.

I actually feel really sad for those that never fully experience what its like to shift through the gears, notch them in perfect, heel-toe, rev match, etc. Its such a joy to feel at one with the car, and I've never been able to do that with paddles!

After drag racing a 350 with a muncie 4 speed for years, I wanted an auto just for the strip times.

High stall TC, rear end build and a trans brake will trump an equal car with a manual evertime.

But thats just my view of it, manuals a awesome for sliding around town and road tracks, but autos rule the 1/4 mile.

now if I could only find a company making trans brakes for these new trannies, I'd be in heaven.
