'10 Camaro LS vs '10 VW Golf TDI Turbo Diesel
Hey guys,
So a buddy at work has a VW Golf TDI Turbo Diesel and based on an experience he had with a 90's era Mustang GT recently (won't go into details, lol) he now thinks he can take my Camaro. I said he's nuts but he's even willing to go to the track and have a throwdown. Who's gonna win? (forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I've never raced anyone before so I have no idea, lol) |

Well, I know it sounds stupid, but he is SO CONFIDENT he can beat me in the first 100 yards (he concedes that I'd rape him in the 1/4 mile) I was starting to wonder what this little VW is capable of.

haha first 100 yards? Youd be surprised how close most cars are up to 30 mph. Some guy posted a drag between an Ss and two V6s and the V6 and SS were basically right next to each other for the first 30 mph.
Youll destroy him though... |

Diesels are underrated. A BMW 335d with 265 horsepower can do 50-70 faster than an Audi R8 4.2, even with a 6-speed slushbox.

My daily driver is an Audi A3 TDI (company car) and while it is "quick" and "nimble" and feels fast, after 30-40MPH it feels like any other 140HP car. The turbo wind up and low-end torque are fantastic but like others said that effect is short lived.
