Don't Lift, Dont Shift
"What is it?"
“Don’t lift.” That’s been the mantra of race-car drivers, basically since the beginning of race-car driving. The physics being, if you lift midcorner when your mind tells you to, the weight comes off the back end, possibly sending it around in an uncorrectable and uncontrollable skid. With the 2016 Shelby GT350, we’re going to add “don’t shift” to that saying. The 5.2-liter flat-plane crank V8 doesn’t redline at 6,750 rpm like some old muscle cars, and doesn’t redline at 7,250 rpm like some new muscle cars. It only cuts out at an astounding 8,250 rpm. When the active exhaust is wailing, and your mind screams “shift now!” remember, you have about three more seconds of pull before your hand needs to drop off the Alcantara wheel and toward the stubby shifter with the red lettering. I checked with my dealer today about ordering a 2016 GT350 and they want 10k
over my order price.

I know. It'd be like all those fools who went out and paid MSRP or more for their z/28's when it was introduced only to see GM offering significant discounts on it only a few months later! Suckers!

^ In fairness, there's a big difference though... due to the limited production amount and the scarcity to even find one still unsold with a minimal-moderate markup, the R will arguably but more than likely hold its value (both near and long term). I'd pay that mount of ADM too for an R with Elec. pkg. Plus it'll be even more desirable if it is a MY2015 (50th Anniv edition) R model which Ford Performance only made 137 total (37 R's + 50 with Tech pkg + 50 with Track pkg).

I know I wouldn't unless it was just 2015 and only the limited amount they were making. Cars are terrible investments. What many consider "holding good resale" is just losing the smallest amount of value over time. Now if they made only 500 and only for 2015, the value would go up significantly I'm sure. But this is just my opinion and I don't have the money for one anyway.

^ Not necessarily... if one is happy and can easily afford it then why not? Heck there were folks who paid ADM's on ZL1's and Z/28's alike when it was released. I have no qualms with what one does with their money... if they can easily afford it, then good for them... can be debated that they're not suckers, they're just enjoying their toy very early.
Back to regular programming... even PC World has their drive/review: http://www.pcworld.com/article/29781...an-muscle.html Shelby GT350R: Ford’s fastest Mustang shows high-tech can redeem American muscle. With magnetically controlled dampers and carbon-fiber wheels, the GT350R handles in the corners like no other Mustang before. Consider the exotic 526HP engine to be just a bonus. |

I don't understand...if someone has the disposable $ to overpay for whatever he is comfortable overpaying, it is his $. Obviously, he has plenty of it and has no finacial worries like most of us do. Why do some people get upset about that?
