Z/28 die cast

I wonder how many of us would buy a die cars exact replica of our cars if one was available. I was on the GT Spirit die cast website, and they said with enough inquiries they do custom die casts. Since the difference between a z/28 and an SS in a die cast - is badging, tire width, wheel look, the Gen 5 1LE hood, and the front fascia, slither, side splitters, and the rear spoiler and wickerbill there aren’t too many parts needed to make a Z/28 die cast, perhaps in each of our colors.

I’m hoping there are enough of us to send them an inquiry on wanting one, or a call.
My plea goes to our membership, which is a mix of car guys, track guys, and enthusiasts...so please post in, then take time to ask GT spirit to make us a modification of their Gen 5 Camaro die cast, then offer them in the original colors we have. It’d be easy to give a custom badge with our serial numbers as well.
Otherwise we’re to trying to modify a ZL1 to be a Z/28 with a up resin 3D printer.
At any rate if you guys are interested post, then help me inundate GT Spirit to make a 1:12 die cast for us in our cars color. Me I’d buy two one for a corner of my work desktop where I’ve already got a black 09 Z06 made by Franklin mint, which looks gorgeous, even if I haven’t yet painted it in cyber grey mettalic.

Well here’s hoping there are lots of other that the Z makes their blood boil like me..and we can get a model made to satisfy that itch.

Good idea!
I'd be in for one unless it is ungodly expensive, if that is possible.

Back in 2002 our Pittsburgh Area Camaro Enthusiasts car club (pacecamaro.net) tried to get a special run of Camaros made but we would have had to order and prepay for 100's from what I remember. It was with ERTL Collectibles, fwiw. We ended up using one of their in-stock SS models and added our own decals for the club. Of course this won't work for us now. We would auction one off at each car cruise to help lower the costs. Which really did help.
Hmm, has me thinking what it might be worth...We made 75 of them, numbered and of course I bought #28

Me too but 1:12 is too big, 1:18 would be perfect and what is the previous 5th gen size they all seem to be 1:18?

I'm in at 1:18 scale

Main hurdle for die cast companies is licensing. I've reached out already to a number of them, same story. Paying GM to license it

1:18 Is OK by me me too, as the most popular size we all like would be what they’d support. I’ll call them tomorrow and pitch it, and let you know. Since they already have a Gen 5 model, all they need is the parts which are different, of which the hood, cf insert and valve heads are the biggest difference, and the other small bits plus the seats , spoiler and wickerbill.I’ll see if I can get the them to make a hood which is our same hood and a 427 numeral set, but one of us could 3D print those.
Monoprice makes a stellar SLA resin 3D printer that uses a UV resin , and an accurate uv laser to give exceptional performance and accuracy..it’s normally $500, but they’ve lowered their price to 299.99. I’m buying one this year to play with and make small parts..one will be a clear valentine one holder that would be transparent to radar, and allow you to mount directly yo the inside windshield, perhaps once it’s designed illl ask a few folks who own valentines ( I’ve got one for the Z/28 and one for my Z06).
Now if I had the had a way to properly design of the parts from a pictures ( ie render it or an autocapitalize drawing) then I could scale properly the needed parts to rebuild an Ertyl Camaro SS, as that the easy way to make a Z/28; as you just mod a product in production. There are some parts that need to be correct to be accurate..like our wheel sets.
You’ll see what I mean when you look at this resin printer it’s less tha 500$ and doesmicron scale geometry. As an industrial chemist, it’d be duck soup to make a photopolymer resin to use..making it make ch cheaper to use, as that what I did my first 12 years after I got my degree in chemistry from UT Austin, as I was a lithography engineer at Texas Instruments and ran their EBeam/UV resist Lab for for supplying some of their front ends( which is where integrated circuits are made).
