So give this one a shot if anyone has the time or inclination....

2010 2SS M6 50,000 miles, no accompanying or parallel issues or problems.

This has been going on for a couple of years. It is a an intermittent problem.

Sometimes on long drives the AC basically quits working. The air flow reduces itself to bare minimum and the cold air is barely cool.

After I turn off the AC for around 10 minutes or so, it resumes normal operation blasting cold air for pretty much the rest of the drive depending on how hot it is and time left on drive.

The AC has been serviced.

One dealership said it might be the compressor.

Another dealership said to leave the car with them and they would drive it around until the problem arose again. (Insert ridiculously loud and uproariously obnoxious laugh here.)

Another dealership told me next time the problem occurred, check the aluminum output line and if had frost on it the condenser was most likely bad. When I did that, the line wasn’t frosty...just cold and wet.

I’m at my wits in and I’m very close to having a dealership change out the entire system, compressor, condenser, ice maker..the whole kit and kibootle..

Any ideas?

Sounds like an iced up evap coil.

Replace the cabin air filter. If that doesn't do it, remove it entirely. If it still happens, then it's probably something else:

loose wire/plug on the control module (BCM?),
WOT switch,
blower motor overtemp,
blower/AC control module overtemp,
engine overtemp, primary radiator cooling fan overtemp,
HVAC faulty hi-pressure switch, and/or bad expansion valve.

It's mostly ranting problems with few solutions, but the first story suggested replacing "the HVAC temp actuator on the left side of the system" was the fix for a problem similar to what you describe.

Screen shot done. I’ll get to work on it right away. Thank you. I have the repair and maintenance manual, so this will be easy DIY.

Is it a fan issue? you say The air flow reduces itself to bare minimum and the cold air is barely cool. They variable fan speed controller may be bad if there is no airflow.

What’s funny is, it’ll take me months to diagnose this if not longer with winter coming up.

I’m printing this information with checklists and making a folder. Obviously I just ordered an OEM filter, back to basics...like your house...never use fancy filters ALWAYS use cheap high flow filters and change often...(I didn’t think about that so thanks Gunkk fir that reminder, made me feel stupid...if the shoe fits right)

...off we go.
