Spark Plug Life For Supercharged Cars

How often should plugs be changed on ZL1 engines? 16k on mine, 2013, so 10 years old.

Plugs are cheaper than an engine, so I change mine probably more frequently than needed. Before every track day or any tuning, or once a year. Whichever comes first. I got really good longevity and great performance out of the TR6 plugs, but I upgraded to BR7EF on the last mod cycle.

Now that we are a decade along, what is the "best" plug to get for stock or only mildly modded examples of our cars?

I replaced the ones on my 2014 ZL1 at 100,000 miles (never raced the car).
2 or 3 of the plugs were missing the center electrode tip.

To my great surprise, the owner's manual specifies every 60,000 miles (for severe driving conditions) plug change intervals for the ZL1 instead of at 75,000 miles for all the other engine options

Like I said, I had great luck running the TR6 on mine up to about 700whp. I didn't have any of the starting issues associated with excessively cold plugs and E85, and I feel the solid copper core gives you a hotter spark and better idle quality. I don't have any evidence that it's better than this or that plug, so all I have to offer is my own anecdotal experience. So take it with a grain of salt.

Well, I was just looking for what people have been doing in their actual practice, not what the book says. Maybe people had experiences where earlier or later changes were best for them in their situation.

Ask your tuner.

I have been running NGK TR7iX plugs for the past 4 years with no issues.

I know a guy with a ZL1, who had a electrode on one of his plugs come off, it punched two holes the shape of the electrode through the valve, ruined the valve seat and imbedded itself into the top of the piston,
I change mine often now.

This makes one suspicious if there was a problem with the tune.

Owner's manual claims 60k or 65k (I forget the exact mileage) for the plugs in the ZL1.

I'll prob change mine around 45-50k.
