How much hp can a stock driveline handle?
My car is at 592 rwhp and 552 to. I am about to add a cam and 3.91 gears, m6 car.

It all depends on how hard you drive it. I know that when I was at 684, I was concerned about my rear going boom, so at dead stops, I would ease into it, and after I was rolling, I got into it more. Since I've done my upgrade, I hit it a lot harder now. I would suggest that if you're going to change gears and you don't want a new diff., you should invest in caps, JRE posi mods, and maybe the LPW cover.

With the right tire, launch rpm and traction I think the M6 cars have broken driveline parts at near stock power levels. At your power level I would seriously be looking at other options if you drag race on sticky tires.

I found this article to be pretty accurate. This question is usually answered with a lot of, would , should, might. Always nice and vague
http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/g...e/viewall.html I have broken/replaced almost every part in my entire drive line. Axles usually go first

That article is a good guideline to go by. Also try to take in to consideration that any part you upgrade, you could also sell the stock part to recoup some of your losses.

like most are saying, with a manual trans the driver has allot to do with how parts will stay together. at your level i would suggest a few upgrades to make sure it stays together.

Thanks for all the input guys it is a m6 car. I do drag race 4 or 5 times a year , shooting for a 10 sec pass this year. I run low 11's now, with the cam and gears i hope i can get there. I am on stock suspension for now except for the 1400hp axles I already have.

1100+ rwhp through stock driveline (besides the clutch) and still holding. At first it was a joke to see how long drive line will last but now I really am curious. I contribute the lasting effects to a great mechanic, CBI Streetcars and, fixing the problems with the car. It's obviously not power that kills the driveline as 426 FWHP has been enough to break them. I believe that weak or noise reducing parts of the suspension allow things to bind and/or create wheel hop which is a number one killer of any axle. Luckily BMR has many great things to offer to help the 5th gen track straight and true.
