Should I mill them?

I just put 295/40r20 tires on my 2010 SS with 10.5 rims. I ordered them with the correct factory back spacing but it didn't happen. These wheels are +15 offset and I believe factory SS wheels are +42. I can have these milled all the way to +42 per 2Crave. The question is...should I? I value the groups opinion.

It looks like you're about to go off roading. If it was me I'd do it, and have the flush look, or have it stick out a little bit. It could be just the angle, but it seems like they stick out about an inch.

Learn something new everyday !! Didn’t know people were actually milling rims .
What does that do to the structural integrity of the rim? I mean taking out an inch is a lot ,no? . Maybe I’m overthinking it but if you take too much material won’t your wheel studs end up being too long to torque your rims down? If I’m not mistaken , the studs only have so much thread

I called the wheel manufacturer today with that same concern. They tell me that +15 is where the rim starts life then they remove material based on the cars offset spec. They say that this wheel is sold all the way to +42 which means 27mm can be removed safely. 27mm is 1.0699 inches. There is a ton of material to work with. As far as the stud length is concerned, when asked that question they didn't give an opinion other than to say there are no changes recommended when purchasing the correct offset. I guess I'll find out. I likely wont take off the full 27mm.

actually it puts me into the wayback machine and drops me off in 1975,when it was cool to have a little bit of tire hanging out...i mean that in a good way, too.

Last time I left my "tire" hanging out the cops got involved, times have definitely changed.

Don't suppose you can return them for the proper offset?

Most of these wheel companies will not accept any returns/exchange once tires have been mounted.

Yeah, understand that, but how was he to know that the offset was so far off without installing?

Oh I totally agree. Its BS if they sent the wrong wheel from what he ordered and refuse to allow an exchange, but he hasn't confirmed that yet. If it was me I would be mighty pissed and would be pressing for an exchange or refund. I just couldn't justify having to have machine work done on brand new wheels through no fault of my own.

If I was unable to return or exchange I would likely sell them to recoup money and buy the correct offset wheels...elsewhere.

^^ And yep. This for sure. No way I would have kept them being the wrong offset. I myself wouldn't even be comfortable with even having them milled..

It wasn't 2Crave that made the error is was the shop I ordered them from. Milling the offset is pretty standard and I just waited to long. The 275/40r20 tires didn't hang out like this but were small for the rim size. I talked to a machine shop today. If I dismount the tires and bring them to him he will cut them down as far as I want for $100. No bid deal. I and a product of the 70's when we let those N50's hand way out. That look is not something I minded way back then.
