How do I replace the V6 Alternator?
Driving home from work today and the warning sign came on to check the battery and electrical charging system and the battery light came on. 2010 V6 LS. Stopped at Pep Boys to have them check it and the alternator has gone bad. I just replaced the battery last fall and hit 110k on it this summer. So they didnt have one in stock and had order from Cali which wont be here till next week. Same luck at O'Reilly Auto. Autozone says they can have one here tomorrow so ordered and going to replace.
My question to everyone here is does anyone have a diagram and instructions on how to replace the alternator on a 2010 V6? I have done google searches and searched this forum and not coming up with much. |

Remove the belt, unplug the wires, remove bolts. Reverse to install.

You're right, but some need a little help with a picture too.

This may sound weird but its on the bottom left side of the engine correct? Looking at it I wasn't sure I could get in there and do this from up top.

Think we should all encourage others to attempt fixing their own cars. At least that's what I thought this forum was about. I certainly didn't know everything the first time I opened my own hood. No one ever discouraged me. I bought the book grabbed some tools and went at it. As you know working on your own car can be very rewarding. So to the OP, go for it! Ask lots of questions if you're not sure. You can do it

Ok...point taken, you win. Now what? And you knew everything from the beginning? Not trying to pick a fight. Just trying to help someone.

ive worked on lots of cars built pre-2000,so i know the basics.i have a feeling the first few repairs on the newer camaro are going to come with a learning curve,i.e. bleeding antilock brakes.think i will be utilizing this forum before jumping right in...
