from my experience doing it. I just don't think I could get my hands in there to remove it.

But I can confirm no need to drop the fuel tank.
there is one plastic clip on the vent valve that is a pain in the ass to remove.
can't imagine doing it while the canister is installed.
not a difficult job... just time consuming.

You think you could cut a tiny hole in the floor just to remove the clip. Then take the vent out the bottom?

I'm told by the dealership 9 times out of 10 its the solenoid and not the whole assembly. That would be part # 19329627.

No that wont work on this one.
The gas tank would be on your way.... Unless you want to make a hole on that one too lol

but good idea.! I did that for my Fuel Pump Assy
super easy to swap pumps now

If you have a good relationship with the service department ask them to Goodwill or customer loyalty warranty the repair.

Update - Was the solenoid. $53 for part at dealer and $125 worth of labor. Had brunch with my aunt for giving me a lift and by the time we got back he was calling me saying it was ready.
He mentioned the same thing happened on his brand new 2012 Camaro so he had a hunch it wasn't the whole assembly.

So he did just the vent solenoid and didn't drop the sub frame?

From him:

Yes. Took all the sub frame bolts out, lowered the cradle, then removed the right lower strut bolt, then removd the right wheel to gain access.

Me: I wasn't watching. I thought it would be two hours at least. Heh.
