Camaro & Mustang matchup

This kid has an 02 mustang GT with exhaust and supercharger, he wants to race me for $500 in my 2010 SS. I have an Intake and Exhaust. I think it will be close. What do you all think?

I think it's stupid to race someone for money regardless of what they have done, but with exhaust and supercharger he could be making as little as 350whp, to over 500whp. He's obviously pretty confident about his setup to wager money on it. What kind of blower does he have? What size pulley? Those two questions are pretty important and make quite a bit of difference.

Depends on the SC but I'd be tempted to say he might win. He weighs less remember. Also sounds like he's pretty confident to throw down $500 on it.

I don't know what kind of blower it is, I haven't seen the car, I'm just going off of what I was told. I read that with stock internals an 02 gt can only be boosted up to 425 hp

Them year mustangs are very light. With just gears they hit 13.5 I would think he would win pretty easy

Buy a nitrous kit and conceal it well, then destroy him and the $500 will land you a free nitrous kit. Sandbag towards the end too so you just barely beat him and get him to run it back double or nothing so you can take more.

I think the mustang might win, those cars are pretty light. I traded in a 09 gt convertable for my 2012ss convertible. My ss has 426hp and my GT had 300hp(it was the 4.6L) I can tell my camaro has more torque but the mustang was very light. My camaro feels faster but not that much faster. Everything was stock. By the way, I'm comparing the 2011 SS convertible tester car I drove that had 6000miles on it. I'm still breaking mine in as I only have about 60 miles on mine and have not reved her over 3 grand yet. So to answer your question, I would not do it

you will smoke him.

typically they only make 350-390rwhp. only the screw guys with long tubes abd boltons get 425rwhp. their motors blow at more than that.

you will win, just get a handheld tune man. and make sure you can drive worth a darn. not 14 seconds like a lot of newer car owners.

My money is on you. Those cars weren't that light, they only made 260 at the crank stock and it's also a beat on, 10 year old car. Even if he's making 150 whp over stock with the blower, it's still a driver's race. We've got a local guy with a blown new edge like this and he's lucky to be a high 12 second car on a fantastic day.

Those cars weren't much to write home about stock, and they're not much to write home about modified, by today's standards.

This could go either way. If his car is setup correctly, you'll likely lose. Guy I work with just sold his 06 4.6 mustang that was supercharged. The car only made mid 400's to the wheels but ran 10.70@ 125mph. If he's setup correctly...that's what it's capable of. O, this car had long tubes, tune, convertor, blower, and gears. Stock engine otherwise. Just warning you.
