That's one hell of a car considering...

It looked way worse before you cleaned it up. Definitely beauty in the making!

Thanks. That was me holding the throttle open a bit. It idles smooth about 750 in park and around 5 in drive. It’s running really good now. I’ve done a bunch more to it over the last close to 2 months. It’s going to need new tires and a wheel still as well as I need to go thru the brakes with new soft lines and calipers along with a flush before I can feel confident to drive it on the road. I’ve moved it around the house a little and everything is working correctly, IE power windows, mirrors, locks, ELECTRIC HATCH, radio lights etc, e fans, blower motor, etc. The transmission hits all gears with ease on stands and it moves under its own power with out any issue. The Posi even still works.
Here’s a recap of what I’ve done so far.

Replaced fuel tank, filler neck and pump with 4th Gen plastic tank setup and 4th Gen V6 unregulated pump
Full ignition tune up - still had the factory original delco cap and rotor in it
Oil and coolant change
Changed transmission fluid and filter - had never been changed before
Changed rear gear oil - had never been changed before
Fixed MAF burnoff relay ground
Cleaned all gauge contacts in cluster
Replaced fuses for power locks windows and rear defroster
Replaced tail shaft bushing, seal and extension housing o ring
Replaced rear pinion seal
Worked rear hatch motor with penetrating oil for several days off and on while hitting release tab on latch
Replaced engine compartment fuel line o rings
Replaced fuel filter
Probably a few other things but that’s the major stuff.

I’m amazed to say I didn’t have to replace the injectors they came back to life with some persuasion. It revs to 5500 with ease and sounds very good in doing so.

As it sits now.

Dude you are so right about that. It definitely has a roadkill vibe about it. I need to take some more recent pics of the interior. The seats are in amazing shape, they’ve been under cover for probably their entire life. It won’t take much at all to get it as immaculate as you can expect from a 35 year old car. The headliner fabric doesn’t have any major rips and is still glued tight to the backing board. The dash does have cracks but anything from the southwest will.

It still blows my mind the shape this thing is in. Original belts anyone? I’m gonna pull these and save them before it goes on the road for sure. I found it interesting to note the mix of dayco and gates as Factory OEM suppliers.

My 94 TA had a sag by 2001

I hear you. I was pretty surprised too. I’m sure if I got messing with it too much around the t tops that it would probably be pretty brittle because of the stupid high UV we have here. I wonder if it separating doesn’t have something to do with humidity. When I was in Virginia it seemed everything had saggy headliners a few years in. I don’t hardly see them at all here.

Good luck on the Build, I built my 86 Z28 which I had for over 25 years into a great Road course car, Nothing was stock and it was a great Track car with street manners, I need to figure out how to post pic's ( Most of mine are not on the Computer ). Good luck with your build.

Hey Joe, don’t worry about hi-jacking, I'm enjoying all these posts and input. That’s a beautiful car you’ve got. I can only hope mine looks that good one of these days. I plan to do a good bit of suspension work to it down the line while retaining all of the oe parts just in case I want to return it to stock later on. I’d like to have a decent track machine I can enjoy with my son.

Do you still have your ‘86?
