LLC or LY7??

I’m looking for a replacement motor and found one that came out of a 2009 Cadillac. My understanding is that, Cadillac put both engines in their cars in 2009. This engine is out so I have no access to the VIN number. So, can you tell the difference between the two by looking at the outside of the engine?

Don't know what a LLC is but if that was a typo and you meant LLT vs LY7.
The LLT is direct injected where the LY7 is port injected. You should be able to see the difference.
