Spoiler complete - Thoughts on carbon fiber hood wrap for 1le
Anyone see this i person or have a pic online? I like the matte black but its a pain to keep clean so may switch it up for the winter. Also is the stock spoiler ont he 1le painted like the hood. I'd probably just have both done.
was quoted $370 for 3m wrap materials and install. Probably wishful thinking but could you wrap over the stock wrap? not sure how or if that would work UPDATE - PICS IN PAGE 3 Last edited by Msmall143; 11-28-2013 at 10:51 AM. |

Pretty sure I saw a carbon re-wrap in these forums - keep poking around. Price seems fair. I'd defer to the installer about putting it on top of the existing film. The guys who put my 1st clear bra on said they could put clear on top of the black vinyl so it can be done, I did not since it would have cost just as much to replace the original film. I doubt you could save the film underneath though if and when you remove the carbon.

I wrapped my strut brace with the 3m dinoc carbon fiber. Ive wrapped several things in it but not a hood. Its good stuff and looks good too. With the bends on the rear spoiler, im not sure you could wrap the whole thing. A good installer probably could.

This material has a "wet" or glossy look. If you need a dry look you should look into the 3M DiNoc Carbon Fiber.
There you go. Glossy or not. I wanted a matte finish not glossy. |

Don't even think about putting new wrap over the old. The old wrap can be peeled off pretty easily. At least it was when I pulled mine off. A heat gun helps.

Dinoc is meant to be permanent. It is intended for architectural finishes, NOT painted surfaces like on cars. 1080 is meant to be used on painted surfaces and automobiles. Dinoc will damage the paint when removed, 1080 will not.

Im sorry but thats not true. Di noc peels right off easily, just like any other vinyl. I know, Ive used it.

I think there is some confusion. a lot of people are wraping cars with di noc, its in know way permanant. the adhesive is the same so i wouldnt worry about paint damage
and the 1080 is available in both gloss (wet) and matte (dry). |

here is a good read on the differences. I'm going 108o simply because its ssems to be thinner and more user friendly. Looks like there ar emore options for it as well.
