Im looking for a LSA blower. So he sent me a PM and tried to sell me a brand new one with a bunch of extras for dirt cheap! The pictures he sent are generic and I found them on google images. He wanted me to send him the money via paypal or wire it to his bank. But what tipped me off was that he wanted me to wait 3-4 days before he shipped if I paid with paypal. By that time it would clear his bank and would be long gone. Plus some of the email be had back and fourth, he sounded in a rush.

My understanding is that PayPal guarantees the funds for these transactions. Whether you're the sender or recipient. I understand the seller wanting to wait until the funds clear his bank.

I'd have suggested communicating to the seller your request for a tracking number either through UPS, Fedex or USPS and have it insured and confirm, in his e-mail reply. PayPal hasn't been around this long because they let people rip them off.

On the other hand, however, as you mentioned, he sent you stock pics. That'd make me walk away, too.

I never understood the part with the wire transfer. Wouldn't you need his real name? His actual bank number? If something goes south, wouldn't the bank have all the information on him e.g. actual address, ID info etc.?

But then again, I'm not from the US. Over here, in order to open a bank account you need to either present a passport or an ID card which contains all your info including DNA and fingerprint data...

One of the big things on forums for me is I won't buy from somebody without any posts and they have a picture of their name, date and the forum name on a piece of paper with the item being sold.

It prevents easy fraud.

When I asked him if we could meet he told me that his friend did that and got killed n his body was never found! Lol! I Googled him email and got a link that he posted something in the UK. Big Red flag. PayPal may have protected me but why put myself threw that.

I've never purchased anything privately online for this reason, too many scams going around and nothing you can really do legally without spending valuable time. (And then LE agencies will argue where the crime occurred and who is to investigate.) For that reason I use reputable company sites and pay the extra $$ for a brand new product and peace of mind.

almost as weird as the user that sent me a friend request yesterday. That person has zero post, zero friends and just opened up an account the same day?
