Fix Loose rubber strip under front fascia?
The rubber strip underneath my front fascia is starting to come loose. I’ve rubbed it up against a few parking barriers that were just the right height to pull up too far but, pull on the strip when I reversed. Anyway one side has actually come loose because the tab it connected to on the fascia has sheered off. Does anyone have a recommendation on how to fix this? It seems like it would be a common problem but I’m having trouble searching because I don’t know the right terminology. I think the pics I’m attaching will explain it better than I can. Any advice would be appreciated.

You broke the bumper tab where the rubber attaches to the bumper. Outside of getting a new bumper, or just removing that piece all together, you're going to need to try and repair that tab.

Fix Loose rubber strip under front fascia?
Thanks. $300 to fix this seems excessive. Given that the tab is in an a non visible spot I was thinking I could bolt on a bracket of some kind.
Would this missing tab prevent me from installing a splitter and hiding the rubber strip. Or making the strip unnecessary?

The link was more to indicate that you would have to plastic weld it and not try and glue it. There are cheaper versions around. Yes you could probably bolt a bracket if you are ok with how it looks. Mine came with a splitter already, but I don't think it uses the tabs at all. Just be more careful with the parking barriers since they don't have any give to them.

it keeps road dust and debris down and out of the engine compartment. If anyone orders a new one, make sure you also order the special retainers that are sold separately.

The retainers from GM are a joke. Plastic nut and bolt for almost $9 each.
Go to Lowes and buy a box of nylon nuts and bolts for 10% the price. |

The GM retainers, while expensive, protect the rubber deflector and bumper cover from tearing. If you hit something with the deflector the GM retainers will pull apart where a plastic nut and bolt will hold securely either tearing the deflector, or pulling through the plastic bumper cover costing quite a bit more than the price of the retainers to fix.

The GM retainers loosen with vibration and fall out. Don't hit shit and you won't have to worry about damaging other parts. |

People just pull up to the sidewalk curb and have their front ends hanging over it. I see this a lot at shopping malls. To avoid this and door dings, I usually park in the back away from other cars and high curbstones and sidewalks.
One time, I pulled in where there was a curb stone and my rubber deflector was literally, I swear, one or two mere millimeters away from scrapping. I couldn't believe it. I just stood there and stared at it thinking how lucky I was from not damaging the deflector or bumper in such a close call like that. |

I removed mine about a year ago. I guess I'm just lucky cuz I've had no issues with dust or dirty engine, underside still looks new, and really haven't felt a loss of power if it had any aerodynamic purpose. I try to stay careful when parking. As Vegas said "Don't hit shit"
Worked out for me.
