Tap shift using the actual shifter??
Someone mentioned in another post that his dealer told him that not only can you tap shift from the steering wheel but you can also use the actual shiftier but putting it in manual mode and then tapping up and down.
I never seen or heard this before for this car, nor is it in the owners manual, which I would imagine if true it should be (unless it's there and I'm blind). If true this would be great but having never seen this or read this before I'm a bit skeptical (not of the poster but of the info the dealer provided him). Can anyone in fact confirm this is the case? Thanks! |

You're kidding right? What year Camaro are we talking about? I have 2014 auto and I knew nothing about this.

I'm hoping its true. I wanted to take the car for a test drive when my dealer told me about it to see for myself, but it was a special order, so they wouldn't let me test drive it out of respect for the ordering customer, which is understandable.
But yeah, I haven't heard anything else on the matter either before or after my dealer mentioned it, so now I'm starting to doubt it too lol. would it be to much to ask for a video showing it in action from you or any others who own an automatic 2016?

yes. thanks man.
I figured my dealer would be right, he hasn't steered me wrong yet, which is why I'm doing business again with him. one more reason for people on the fence about getting a manual or auto to side with the auto. im gonna stick with my M6 tho because I'm an old fart trapped in a 25 year old body lol

I use it all the time. Just as fun as the paddles, but easier when I am going through lots of turns and want to manually shift.

Does this have the same shift delay that everyone was talking about with the paddles or is it a little quicker?

I'm surprised people didn't realize this feature existed on the automatic. Ever since photos of the automatic were posted during the Camaro reveal, even looking at press photos, it's been sort of obvious that the "D" shifter position has a +/- on the side. I find cars that have this to be a lot more fun than those with paddles. It feels more natural to use a shifter to… shift gears. |

Its the same. Are people expecting the auto to act like a manual? While the manual mode can be fun at times, most times IMO its just a gimmick. Get an auto, leave it in auto.

Ima newb to this whole manually shifting. Is engine braking a bad thing, i mean not hard engine braking but just enough to hear the exhaust sometimes as in coming up on a red light. I still apply the brakes but slow down a little by doing this

There's absolutely no reason to do this unless you're doing the aforementioned activity.
