I'm with you on that one. I took my car to Davis Chevrolet and they where charging 120 for the Steering Audio Control Switch and Onstar Module update.
They got the Onstar working from a red light to green and it works great but the Steering Controls didn't work and the told me they did the update and didn't know why it wasn't working, The guy at the Dealer " Maybe your car just wasn't compatible"

Please help, Just finished the install of switch and harness. Called my dealer here in S. Fla and he quoted me $235.00 for reprogramming the BCM. He said he checked with the service tech and said I need the RPO codes. Can you tell me the best steps to take next. 235 sound ridiculous ! Thanks

I paid $85 with tax and that seems excessive to me but the price has been all across the board from dealership to dealership. I know my place wanted more but when I told them a friend of mine went to his dealership and $85 is what he paid and if more than that then I'd go there, I was told "we don't want you to do that. We'll get I done of that" and I gave them the file to look up so they would know what to download from the GM Portal.

$85 after tax is a great price. The dealership has to pay GM $50 for the software alone. That means they charged your for about 15 minutes of labor.

It's in the bulletin in the first post:

Quote:
#PIC5320: Adding Radio Steering Wheel Control Switch (RPO NZL) - (Jan 26, 2010)

You may need to contact Techline Customer Support Center (TCSC) for a VCI number to recalibrate the BCM. Since this is not a warrantable repair, TCSC may charge a fee for this service.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Anyone know a dealership in S Florida that can program this for me. Or at least know someone at any dealer I can call. Not looking for a discount, just looking not to get the old "Dealer Rip Off" Thanks

Will these controls work with an aftermarket radio? I plan to replace mine soon and would hate to go this route and have it not work.

If you get an aftermarket module for your radio they should.
