Trans leaking after pull

So I have a supercharged 408 in my car. My trans temps run hot at over 180 driving normally. I did a pull yesterday and it looks like the trans spot fluid from this breather. Does that sound right or am I crazy? Any recommendations on which trans cooler to get?

I didn’t overfill the trans, just got the car back from getting the motor built

Some auto transmissions do puke up fluid on hard pulls, with fast shifting. The
5R55S does, so I put a catch can on the Vent. So, any fluid is recovered, and I can
fill it from there if needed.

180 degrees not hot? Optimally, you don't want temps over 175 degrees for an
auto trans. I know that seems impossible, but, my Ford 5R55S doesn't go much
over 180. It will stay in the high 170s when driving. It only goes up at idle,
and hard pulls.

This is where it's at when cruising. Torque APP, Android head unit.

The temps in my Camaro are much higher.

Depending on what source you use, optimal could be considered anywhere 160 to 225. The Derale thermostat I installed with my cooler doesn't open until 180 degrees.

When I had issues with this Camaro, engine temps got to 221, and the transmission
would shift very badly when it was that hot. Harsh downshifts and shuddering.
I got it fixed, the issue, and it's fine now, 210 was as high as the coolant went, then
I tuned it so the fans kick on at 195.

Hi temperatures, is the main killer of automatic transmissions. I have always kept
mine under 180, and have never had a transmission failure, EVER. Dodge
used to have a warning right on the dipstick that indicated not to exceed
170-F. Those were the crap Ultradrives. I put a medium duty cooler on
the A094 in the Avenger ES I had, 153,000 miles at trade in. While the
Ultradrives kept AAMCO and other trans shops in good business, mine would
not be one of them.

That link for the Bypass doesn't say anything about optimal temperatures. If you are
using the radiator cooler, there's no point in the bypass. These cars heat up real
quick.

The 5R55S has a built in temperature management valve, so it runs and shifts
cold, so you don't need any assistance. When the trans heats up, the valve
will close more; keeps the pressures in line cold or hot. Would never need a
bypass for that kind of operation.

I'll stick with what's worked for me for 25+ years, 170-180 degrees for me.
I need to get a cooler for the Camaro, then change the fluid and filter, but
it's probably too late anyway. To each his own, but I won't let mine go
any higher than 180 cruising.

I bypassed the radiator, hence the thermostat. I agree that high temps aren't good, but back to the OP, I'm not sure that "run hot at over 180 " is anything out of the ordinary. Depends if that means 185 or 225.

When I tuned my 2010 with the 195 degree option, the trans shifts a lot better. I don't
get the shudder on acceleration, and applying the pedal from coasting. So, I believe I
need a fluid change. I may try 185, but the fans will be on too often I think.

back in the day you went by get the biggest cooler that fits and do not by-pass the radiator.it worked for me..just my 2-cents
