Glad I was wrong. I was counting "Mississippi's" so that may have added extra time. Sorry Scott.

One of the first things I tested was the 0-60 times (yea, I know no vid. or pic's sorry) with only about 10 miles on the car. It was right at between the 5 - 5.5 sec. times.
I also told the dealer about the problems that other people have been having and they are making sure that the 93 octane get's in all future camaros (they have 11 more coming in next month).

Now, not to thread jack or anything, but I get my car back on Thursday and am looking forward to the times with the below mod's:

New Era OTR Intake
ARH LT & 3" exhaust
SLP PowerFlo mufflers and tips (making full 3" exhaust)
All installed by my dealer

I will post up a video when I get it back.
I hate to know what a dealer is going to charge to install that! I only charge $250 for header installation. What are they charging you, about $500?

Have any of you guys tried disconnecting the battery overnight?

One last thing that I thought of, is that they are probably adjusting the Torque Management part of the computer tuning. Torque Management is what is responsible for the sluggishness off of the line and between gears. It essentially pulls timing and slightly closes the throttle to pull back some power to stop from breaking driveline parts as easy.

I wonder if this problem has something to do with the Active Fuel Management (AFM) that drops cylinders in order to save a couple miles per gallon on the gas mileage. Is it possible that for some people, that AFM is a few hundred milliseconds slow reacting to the WOT sensor or whatever else disables it to allow the engine to operate at peak performance?
Is there an easy way to temporarily disable AFM, without hurting anything, so that it would not even try to drop cylinders at all?

Just a thought....

It depends on whether or not you car has had low octane fuel in it.

If it hasn't then you should be good to go. If it has then you should do the reset...

Heck I'd reset it anyway.

My L99 seems to run fine.

I had a long on-ramp getting on the freeway, so I tested it. Spun up to 5800-6000 before shifting to second with tranction control on. Had to get out of it to merge onto freeway. Seemed ok, but I may not know the difference.

If GM does come up with a fix, you can bet I will do it anyway. Got a need for speed.....safely.

This is interesting. When I first got my car the first 300 miles my car would report "shift denied" fairly easily. I thought that the acceleration was a little slugish. Somewhere after 300 miles it was like everything just "turned on". When I downshift the computer blips the throttle like I would with a manual and it will downshifts at higher RPM's than before. The performance all around just got better. I thought that there was something in the computer detuning it during a breakin cyle but it might have just been the computer reading a lower octane gas from the dealer's first tank.

Maybe it adjusted back to the upper table.

No way it's just the octane rating. Sounds like some of these cars are putting out about 350hp at the crank the way they are running and dynoing.
That's LS1 power in a '04 GTO.
My '87 IROC advanced the timing when 91 octane or over was put in. It gained 10hp. I believe the 215hp rating was with the 91.

We're talking automatic (not 6 speed manuals). The L99 Camaro's that dynoed around 305 rwhp are off by about 20rwhp.
But the majority of the L99s are dynoing around 320 rwhp (on average).

On average, this is what most GTO's dyno. I owned two GTO's and I've seen more than my share of them dynoed.

04 GTO's (Automatics) dyno in the 280s rwhp.
04 GTO's (Manuals) dyno around 305 -310 rwhp.
05/06 GTO's (Automatics) dyno in the 320s rwhp.
05/06 GTOs (Manuals) dyno in the 330-340 rwhp range.

Right, Scott, rollout is just a way to mimick what happens at the track, which I've read a lot of mags and manufacturers do use. The Beltronics computer I used was set for a 12" rollout, so my best 0-60 of 4.80 (78degs., 63% humidity) might have been 5.1, 5.2 without it. The owners manual uses the example that if your car pulls .50G off the line, it will take .35sec. for it to travel 12 inches. Thus your times are .35sec. faster since the timer won't start until after the car travels 12 inches.

Yes, irpq, I couldn't take it any longer and finally got the nerve to see how quick it really was...or wasn't. Like JICPerformance suggested, I think a battery disconnect is a good starting point for guys with underperforming cars. Mine was disconnected for a couple of hours while the muffler delete was being done. That's the only thing that may have helped mine, although it may have been fine even before.
Have you gotten yours back yet???
