Anything exciting this weekend? Any one up for starlite this firday.. i wonder if i can go to PRP this saturday at 11 or its for only professional racers that day.

Thursday, June 6 - Test and tune open to all, with a gambler's race. Gates open at 5:30pm, racing starts at 6:30pm. $25 to test and tune, $35 for gambler's race. $7 for spectators, $20 carload.

Saturday, June 8 - Regular racing, points day #3. Gates open at 11am, Teen Championship Racing starts at noon, with junior dragsters immediately following. Big car time trials start at 3pm

When you read the sentence about Saturday, what does it seem like to you?

Tahseen - the very first words for Saturday are "Regular racing" (in contrast to Thursday "Test and tune open to all"). One would then deduce from the listing of times/classes that it's also a points day (with points meaning competitive). I believe this is what Jay was trying to get you to infer.

I guess.. but I really dont know if regular street cars are allowed in this. I dont know what classes run when, except for test tune I see every one there. Never been in a competitive race..
So it still does not answer my question.. Can I go out on saturday 3pm or not.!
LOL

Tahseen, yes you can go out on Saturday to race. You would be in the Street Class. You will get 2 time trials before the races begin. Once the racing begins, in each class, if you lose your heat (run down the track) then you are out of competition. Not sure if they will be doing buy-backs or not (if you lose you pay money to get another run down the track). Racing day is not like a test & tune day - you do not get unlimited runs down the track - it is competition for all. If you have any questions, give Jim a call.

Hope this helps explain "race day" to you.

Mary

Oh got it, I think I remember some one saying some thing similar like this last year with dialing in your time. This looks too professional to me. I just go there to hang out and have some fun without competing.. so I guess I will just stick to the test and tune days for now..

Thanks for the explanation.

I was thinking about going to that on Saturday, but at this point either I need to ride shotgun or hope my foots better enough to drive, cause right now driving a clutch is painful and a real pain to handle.

Test and tune is where you can go and run your car all out.

Class racing is done for points and in brackets.

What MEC's said.... basically you get to run as much as possible at Test and Tune whereas for points you can get eliminated right away. If you show up at 3:00 then you wouldn't even have an opportunity to dial in, so in theory, you might only get one run if you lost.

With that said, since you've got an auto and I'm presuming by now that you've figured out how consistent the car is, you might do surprisingly well. "Back in the day" (I'm talking like 10 years ago) one of my friends from back home took his '97 Dodge Avenger that ran 17's (it may have been even slower) to Beaver Springs -- and won that night. It was a very slow car, but was dead-on consistent.

The only issue with just showing up sporadically to do that is sometimes the regulars get a bit annoyed because they're there every week to earn points compared to someone just showing up, cleaning up, and never coming back.
