Best "bang for the buck" sub amp..

1: needs to be 1 ohm stable
2: needs to produce 1500W RMS
3: needs to be affordable

Whatcha got?

Rockford Fosgate has a T1500-1dbCP that is 1 ohm stable @ 1500 watts. The power series used to be pretty good qualty amps, but the sound quality isn't what it used to be. M.S.R.P is $799

Arc Audio has a 1200.1 that is 1 ohm stable @ 1000watts. It is $799 M.S.R.P, I've see them as low as $549.

Audison has a LRx 1.2K that is 1 ohm stable @ 3200 watts or can brigde it to 6000.

I know "Kicker" makes a 1500W Class "D" monoblock amp, model 12-ZXS1500.1, but it is well north of 500.00.. and is not 1 ohm stable as far as I have found through researching it..

Rockford Fosgate looks to make a model T1500 1-bdcp which looks good as it claims to be 1 ohm stable and puts out the required RMS wattage for about 100.00 less than the Kicker..

"RE Audio" USX-45KV.1 Series Monoblock Class DE Car Amplifier looks to fill the need as well.. for about 350.00, so a little less than the Fosgate amp..

Thanks C.M. I'll bet that "Audison" amp is nice.. and expensive..

Yes.. I believe it does..

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased an "Audiopipe" APCL 15001D Monoblock amp to see if it would work like they claim, because I didn't want to spend 600.00+ on an amp.... I was kind of leary about them.. because I hadn't heard of them before.. Well, let me tell you they certainly back up the reviews online for some serious power and include subsonic/Low pass filters along with bass boost.. and get this... less than 150.00 to your door in most cases...

The reason I wanted the 1500 Watts RMS @ 1 ohm, was because I picked up a couple of 12" Pioneer Dual Voice Coil 4 ohm speakers(Which weigh about 38lbs each).. wired the speaker's voice coils in parallel to get them to 2 ohms.. and then did the same for the pair of speakers to get them to 1 ohm.. they can handle 1000W RMS and with the Audiopipe amp seeing only a 1 ohm load.. it puts out 1500W.. Now if it last's more than a few months.. I would have to say it is quite a bargain.. will report back if any issues arise between now and then.. here is the link to the install: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=312288

agreed. And if you find one, its probably an inflated spec and won't perform/sound good at all

Amps x Volts = Watts.. so it is probably putting out somewhere between 1200W to 1400W on a clamp test, considering they ship with a 100 Amp fuse(if it came with a 40A fuse onboard, I wouldn't consider buying one because it would surely be underpowered/rated).. was skeptical at first, but seems to be working flawlessly so far @ 1 ohm.. even heard of some guys pushing it to .5 ohm when researching them, and it survives as long as it doesn't overheat and is getting 14V power.

Look at this amp http://www.sonicelectronix.com/searc...word=ppi+p1000 1000 true watts at 1 ohm of power in a compact package. You could probably get 2 at such a cheap price.

So I'm completely new to car audio but what else would I need to add to my 2011 2LT/RS to allow me to use hook this up directly from my stock head unit to a sub?

What system do you have? Boston Acoustic or non-BA?

If your looking to do a budget install, and not looking to add all new speakers throughout the car.. this is a decent route to go.. and can be done for under 600.00

An enclosure built for your Camaro, a couple of good 10" or 12" speakers, a Line out converter for getting the signal to the amp off the 6x9 rear deck speakers, and a source for power to turn on the amp when the key is turned on... that will be it, besides a decent amp wiring kit.. can do everything in the trunk, but will have to run one wire to the rear of the console and tie into the 12v accessory outlet.. it does not connect directly to the head unit..

Other ways are possible with pre-built harnesses and enclosures that mount on either side in the rear of the trunk.. another option.. Check "********" for those if you are looking to replace the Boston Acoustic amp with something better to run your other factory or aftermarket speakers, most run a new 5 channel amp.. lots of ways to get better sound in your car..
