Removing the Roof Ditch Molding

I want to paint my roof ditch moldings, but i was wondering if any one here has removed or installed one of those.

I have 2 options:

1.- remove my own have them painted and put them back on

2.- buy new ones (they are like 35 bucs each) have it painted and put it back on.

But i don't know if this are like a non replaceable thing where you have to brake some plastics to get if off and you need to buy new ones. Or maybe you just need to buy extra fasteners or something

Any Ideas??

these are one of the easiest one to do. most gm vehicles are attached with double sided tape. that is not the case with these. just start at one end and pull up. the ends are cliped in and the rest is just pressure fit.

the 2 strips that run from the front window to the back window, in LS cars and LT/SS cars that do not have the RS package they are black in RS cars they are body color. me personally wish ALL Camaros had them body color. the roof ditch moldings on my LS Monte are body color. to me it reminds me of the days when the base model Cavalier's had black front and rear fascias and lower rocker cladding but the higher models had them body color :(.

I like mine black. I have a 2SS RJT with black rally stripes. I also installed the fade to black gills. The black ditch molding accents the black tirm around the windows and the black rally strips and the fade to black gills.

Removing the Roof Ditch Molding

Why bother removing? I scuffed mine , taped the channels on each side of the mouldings, placed masking paper and using an air brush, painted mine CGM and then followed up with clearcoat. Looks just like an OEM set now.

Not really meaning to necrothread this, but if they're painted, won't they crack on installation? How does one keep the paint from getting messed up when installing painted ones?

You need to either mix some flex into the paint or be really careful.
