Parking brake adjustment procedure?

My parking brake doesn't hold too well. Does anyone here have a copy of the parking brake adjustment procedure from the service manual?

I would take it in to the dealer since it's under warranty, but I don't want to leave my car there for the whole day possibly getting damaged from being worked on at the dealer. It's more convient for me to just do it myself.

GM E-brakes suck! My POS, entry level, company car/truck Ford's NEVER need adjustment. But I still love ya, GM.

Does anyone make a socket that won't booger up the lug nuts? How does the factory get them on looking so pristine?

I used to work at Mitsubishi Motors of America building those little ricer and a couple Dodge models. One of my areas jobs was torquing lug nuts. We had sockets that had a hard plastic inner and outer sleeve. I got new wheels recently and was looking for sockets like those. All I found were the ones that protect the wheel but not the lug

I know this is an old post... but I just went through the most ridiculous ordeal with my fiancee's mustang BECAUSE of the integrated parking brake.

She was having issues with the car rolling while the parking brake was engaged. I thought it might be the cable so I adjusted it.

Didn't work.

Thought it might be worn pads, so I ordered a new set of pads/rotors.

In the meantime, while trying to figure this issue out, I told her to park in level areas and leave the car in gear. Well, at her mom's house and at her brother's house, there is nowhere to park that is level. And hers is the ecoboost engine, so while she did park in gear, I guess the car is heavy enough and the grade was steep enough that the car still managed to roll a little bit backwards - scaring the hell out of her.

Then, one day her brother goes to leave for work, and because her car had rolled downhill a bit, he ends up backing into her car. SO now I'm paying an insurance deductible and getting the car repaired.

Turns out, the pads and stuff WERE worn, but replacing them didn't fix the problem. The whole integrated mechanism seized up and the parking brake wasn't DISENGAGING - which resulted in the old pads wearing so much they weren't effective, and the new pads got too hot to hold the car after bedding the pads in.

Ended up replacing the calipers as well to fix it. It's a neat idea, but I'll take my Camaro's drum style parking brake anyday

What works for me is lining a regular socket, both the inside and outside, with thin electrical tape. No scratches that way.

thread lock tape around the outside of the lug nuts works as well, easier to remove too.
