I have read nearly this entire thread, I just had a set of 3.91 AAM gears set up in my M6. I am curious as to what kind of oil would be recommended for break in and a good break in procedure.?? Also when to change the oil for the first time and what is the rear diff oil capacity. Seems I have seen a range from 1qt to 1.35qts.... Can someone please clarify if its 1qt or 1.35 and why?? Thanks

I use Amsoil site as a reference when buying fluids they have refill capacities on there.

http://www.amsoil.com/AmsoilGarage/i...ROLET+CAMARO+X

Says 2.1 pints which is 1.05 quarts. When I did a drain a refill I think I had like very small amount left over in the 1 qt bottle. So doing gears which I too am about to do you may need that second bottle as you prob get more oil out.

I'm not aware of a break in fluid just a break in procedure. I'll be using royal purple max gear 75w-90.

thanks for the info! The kit I bought came from jegs . it came with 2qts of "jegs" brand 75w 90 and a bottle of the GM additive. was just curious as to how long of a "break in" period should I give before a fluid change. Any advice on break in procedure would be appreciated a well. FYI I will be starting with new engine, clutch/flywheel, and rear differential lol.

Seems like a lot of miles, I've read people keeping it under 65 no constant speed, no WOT, and heat cycle like 10 time which would be run for 30 min or so and then stop and let it completely cool to ambient temps. Oil change not required.

Ok how much tranny fluid is needed for a V6 Auto if you complete a full flush including the torque converter.
