That may be true but most exotic engines are v10's or v12's that rev almost infinitely while this v8 s/c makes just as much power with tons more lower end torque that will still beat all of them while reving to a 7K max and pushrods still!

great point, and no matter what other performance car enthusiasts say, the Vette is still faster =]

Yup, so many "car enthusiasts" really don't know anything about the nuances of engine performance. They just look at peak horsepower and say, well my car makes just as much power as yours, but with a smaller engine. But what they don't realize is that it doesn't make that power until it is spinning at double your redline, and before that point they have nothing. That's why its so easy to beat Civic SIs with my Cobalt on freeway on-ramps from the meter, because while they may make about 50 more peak HP than I do, they have to rev into the stratosphere to get it, and until that point they might as well be driving a golf cart.
Also, when you squeeze that much power and revs out of a smaller engine, I have two words for you: hand grenade. |

It's true, aren't most F1 cars 4-bangers?
That said, you can pull 400 horse out of a 1.8 liter, worked with a fat turbo. You can pull 400 out of an old heavy v8 and still smoke that tuner car because of the low-end. It's incredible how much difference low-end and RWD make. |

Formula 1's are still V8's but only have about 3 liters. They used to be 3 L. V10's! No turbos either but still make up to 900 hp! At 19,000 rpm that is and they dont have valve springs, they use something else like pressurized airbag things which I cant find any sources of where I read that. Basically below around 10,000 rpm they are useless and have no power hence why they sometimes stall after leaving the pits.

I think a turbo'd ecotec set the 4 banger power record at somewhere near 1000 hp. I'll have to find the article on that...
