Once again I'll say this: there IS a downside to sharing information....and this is a perfect example of it.

We could clam up and perhapsyou'd never know about it...but to the Camaro Team, that would not be the right thing to do.

If you think that BMW and Mercedes and other foreign manufacturers don't have similar issues, you're wrong.

WHAT I RECOMMEND: (....from a PERSONAL viewpoint......)

DO NOT do 6,000 RPMS and then DUMP the clutch.

That's a foolish thing to do....regardless of what you are driving.

I'm not saying you have to 'baby' the car -- but don't go out and 'flog hell outta it!"

Meanwhile - we will have more info. as details develop.
For a couple members it broke after 3,000 RPMS and then dumping the clutch. Most of us know other manufacturers have issues just like these.. WE are all glad GM has come out and acknowledged there is a problem and placing the current made Manuals on hold.. I am picking mine up this weekend and will be treating her like a baby. I hope there is a way to discover if mine is affected and so forth and not have to wait until it breaks type of situation.. That is what I am most afraid of, the feeling of not being so sure if my car is going to be reliable or not when I need it the most.. I am glad nobody was injured when the shafts had broken.. I'm sure we'd be in a different situation if there was. Scott, I would definitely like to know how GM is going to figure out who is affected without all of us having to bring the cars back to the dealers. Obviously the dealer would need to know what to look for if we did have to take it in.. Thanks for your help and please keep us as informed as you have been..

i was talking to my brother who is an engineer and has worked with car companies in the past and he is wondering why GM choose to not stop production and just put them into QC. He said the problem can be too terrible if GM is willing to waste money by not stopping production with the possibility of having to rebuild all of those cars if it is in fact a major problem

My opinion is not a clone of everyone elses, it differs, and it is my right to say, post and complain as long as I am respectable.

If you agree or not, that's your problem and you are then free to respond.
You are free to post any thoughts/opinions you have. Personally, I encourage you to.

That being said, if they're "geared" towards bickering, calling those who understand/support GM as having "blind faith", etc., that's where the problem lies.

I know you have to know this. Issues like this one happen to ALL MANUFACTURERS. Yes, we've all waited for the Camaro for what seems like an eternity. But unless you're inside GM, see what's involved, etc., please keep an open mind.

Look, Stop taking this so personal. It isn't directed at you it's directed at everyone. On both sides of the issue. Like I said in my post earlier. If you have standards that are so high that you can't tollerate this sort of problem with the camaro, then so be it. All we are asking is that in your criticism you be fair and respectful. We are trying to eliminate posts from members that are just Pissed with no other rational. Whether I agree with your assessment or not is irrelevant. But you've called out two mods already. I'd ask that you cool it and continue to participate here.

No one is trying to silence you and your complaint.

Because not all of them are having bad tranny's just some are! That is why they are putting them into QC for pre-caution..

My guess, totally a guess, is that they already know roughly how many cars are affected and have decided that it's a small enough number to warrant QC instead of full blown production halt. Keep in mind we do know that not all V8 M6 cars will have the problem. So it's reasonable to get good cars to buyers instead of making everyone wait.

Again this is my opinion. Nothing more.

AKA

Don't TRY to break it and then get surprised when you manage to pull it off.

This is good, No hiding, no coverup, just.. hey this is wrong, we will find out the problem and make it right. Really.... What more can you ask for?

Oh and, My subaru had 2 full blown recalls.

I seriously hope we get an update. Ive been quietly worried about my m6 after the last time I punched a rolling go last week and it felt weak. Its never felt that way. almost felt like a slip. I only have 700 very easy miles on the car. Who knows.
