yeaaah its illegal but rich AFR saves engines
I plan to change the Air to Fuel Ratio on my 2010 Camaro SS to something like 12.5 or 12.8
Does anyone make an adjustable AFR ‘blackbox’ that fits between the sensors and the computer? These blackboxes come with a disclaimer they are for off-road use only (and in fact cannot be sold in Calif) I had 3 such blackboxes on modern EPA regulated BMW and Harley Davidson motorcycles. The box set the AFR at 12.8 while it told the computer the AFR was EPA 14.7 Is there a better way to get to 12.8 AFR? |

You're in the Z section.

Regardless of section, why would you want to run a 12.5 - 12.8 AFR when you're not under load? You only need the richer AFR during Power Enrichment, which the e38 and e67 ECM's already take care of for you. I'd argue that a rich AFR all the time is worse than stoich, due to potentially washing the cylinder bore.
These black boxes sound like snake oil to me. I have never heard of them.

All of that said, if you DO want to do it, just tune the car to set stoich to 12.8 instead of 14.7 (though I don't know of any tuners that would advise you to do it).
