Wonder if the 650hp GT500 will be labeled KR

Got to wondering if the new GT500 will carry the King of the Road label on it. I think those that bought the earlier KR edition for $80K+ should be pissed that they spent that money on a car that has the same HP as the GT500. That's what PO me about Ford in the first place, when the new body style came out in 2005, the pissy HP under the hood for the GT; of course they really didn't have the competition to deal with which is why I got pissed about it..... Ford had the ability to put the power in them but didn't. just some thoughts,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

No. Window stickers are already available for viewing, and the car has been released for shipping, it's just a regular GT500, no KR.

Some people are anticipating having their 2013 in hand as early as Thursday.

WHen the GT came out on 05 300 HP was an entirly acceptable number, when the put 500 HP in the 07 GT500 it was unheard of, different times, different figures, things have changed a LOT in the last 5-7 years................

The problem with Ford is when they came out with the KR in 2008 they told their buyers that they wouldn`t build a GT500 that would outperform the KR. That all changed in 2010 and each year following where the GT500 now has over a hundred horsepower more than the KR. Can`t imagine that those buyers are happy with the new GT500s.

I wouldn't be happy. but you win some you lose some! Even if the KR has less HP than the current gen, it's still a limited edition and will probably hold it's value.

But seriously, I am super happy that the new GT500 has 650HP. It means that there will be more American cars with high HP numbers in the near future. It can be done, and relatively cheaply... (and with relatively EPA friendly mileage) I'm hoping the ZL1 gets a HP boost in a year or two as well. I want to see how far this can go!

True, there is always the benefit of the horsepower wars continuing, which helped to bring the ZL1 to the market in the first place.

I didn't hear that one but then I don't hear everything. Even with less HP compared to the 2011 + GT500s, it doesn't take away from the KR moniker and will be valued more in the long run. I'd be glad to trade mine for a KR.

On Ford site. Am I missing something? Or do something wrong? This is not meant to bash or start bickering. I hope that doesn't happen.

I built a GT500 on the site, added the performance package and SVT track package and it comes to $61,485.00..... Is that because of being in Georgia or is that right?

I don't know what this has to do with the OP's question ,but that sounds about right.

What's the problem?

What the heck. This thread ain't going anywhere anyhow.

I didn't get the track pack ,but I did get the SVT group. I got mine down below 59 doing that. I have no plans of running at any tracks but straight ones, and I don't need the extra weight the track pack adds.
