1967 Camaro - Trans Issue???
I have a '67 Camaro with a 454 in it. Lately, something seems wrong when I drive it. When I take off from a stand still, it takes off verrrryy slow (just creeps along) for a few car lengths, then gets going. Then, when I shift gears, it just doesn't seem right (it's almost like the RPMs are too high after I shift). I'm thinking it is something with the transmission. Anyone have any idea or any suggestions on what's wrong? The engine, itself, starts up fine and sounds fine. It's to the point where I'm afraid to drive it because I don't want anything bad to happen.

Im no expert, but Id say if your getting good throttle response from the motor in park/neutral and it rev's/idles fine, then I'd start with the tranny and work your way down the drivetrain?
Hope you figure it out man, sorry to hear shes bein sluggish!

clutch may be toast? Have you checked the adjustment?

Sound like the clutch is shot or needs adjusting. Do you have any free play with the clutch pedal?

I've also noticed a burning smell sometimes. It's not constant, but I do smell it sometimes. |

With the clutch pedal all the way up. Apply a slight pressure to the pedal it should move at least an inch to 2 inches before you feel resistance.

The clutch may have worn. Sounds like it needs to be adjusted.

After doing some more research, using the insight you guys have provided, it seems to be a worn-out clutch. Does anyone have any idea how much that would cost to get fixed on a 454 engine? Just a ballpark range.
And would it cause anymore damage if I drive it about 3 miles to a shop to get it fixed, or would it be better to get it towed? |

Make sure they resurface the flywheel when they are in there. Depending on the clutch you chose pricing for a disc and pressure plate 250.00 to 500.00 figure about 400.00 for labor
