Bill, I thought there were only like 3 OS id's that can take these extended/modified table custom OS's:

2010 Camaro E38 OS id 12633056 and 12635863
2011 Camaro E38 OS id 12639270

...and this was from a prior email from you. Unless I misunderstood, and technically HPT "can" do a custom OS on "any" OS id. If so, how can we get HPT to do one? Is there a fee? Hell, I'd pay a reasonable amount of money just to get that stupid ECT fan PWM table to start at something below 192!

Custom OS is in the Beta Version. Costs 2 Credits.

I haven't done it yet, but someone else probably has.

I've been using 2.23.138 beta for months now...since I bought the package from Steve over at Frost. Sooooo, does that mean as soon as I started making changes it loaded a custom OS? But my ECT table still starts at 192F...I'm confused NV4708...?

No you'll still need to activate / the OS.

I don't have my tuning netbook in front of me to tell you how to do this.

Hmmm, my tuning laptop is at home and I'm stuck at work for a few more hours. Going to have to check this out some more, but I thought I was already pretty intimate with the interface...guess not so much!

NV4708, I'd certainly appreciate how this done if you get a chance later.

yes you need to convert to the custom os, pay the credits and do a write entire,, make sure you populate the ve table,, then you will have all the options in the custom os,, it is a great set up, i have had it on my car for a while now

here is a vid on how to do the conversion:

right click and save as works best, it is 27mb:

Thanks guys!

VE table...? I thought it was just a "virtual" VE table and didn't really exist, so is there an explicit one in the COS?

in the custom os you get a real VE table,, you dont have to use it for tuning if your going all maf,, but you still need to populate the table

With EFI Live, you get complete control of the Open Loop and Closed Loop VE tables. No custom operating system needed.

So EFI Live has actual VE tables you populate? I assume this is done in open loop looking at AFR error with a wideband?

Is this a mute point since our cartrige MAF's have so much range? I mean, when I first got HP Tuners I was all gung ho about using that 3rd party software to tune VE (well, those 6? tables that feed it), but then it just seemed like most tuners I talked to had the opinion of just keeping it in MAF-only mode. I haven't thought about it much since then, but after talking to different tuners, the reality of the MAF-only solution kinda burst the bubble on this MATLAB-using engineer LOL I suppose if I popped an intake or PCV leak while in rush-hour traffic, I might curse that I never tuned all those VE coefficients, but hey, I'm definitely all ears to new and better ways.

this is what you get with hp tuners custom os:

- 2.5 bar (255 kPa) max MAP sensor support (calibration capability for GM 0-5V linear MAP sensors)

- Rescaled MAF High Freq table supports up to 15400 Hz with 300 Hz resolution, also supports airflow up to 1024 g/sec

- New VE tables with 33 x 33 cell resolution each and configurable MAP and RPM axes (choose your own resolution)

- Charge Temperature based VE multiplier table, configurable axis

- TPS based VE multiplier table, 33 x 17 cells with configurable TPS and RPM axes

- MAP referenced Boost Enrich table

- Boost Enrich MAP threshold and hysteresis value

- Both MAF and Speed Density mode supported

- Boost based fuel cut, selectable MAP threshold cuts fuel to all cylinders when exceeded

- Rescaled fan temperature axis 163-250F (73-121C), stock is 192-250F (89-121C)

EFI Live allows you to populate the 1,2,and 3 Bar VE tables in Open Loop and Closed Loop. Cold starts and open loop fueling is sooooo much more accurate when you have the VE tables activated and properly tuned IMO. This is the way GM does it and this is the way I like doing it. Ideally, you want to have the VE tables tuned so you can run perfectly in speed density and you want the MAF tuned perfectly so you can run MAF-only. When you turn both of them on and have them working together, you have an outstanding running vehicle.

This just shows the details. How about "where" is the COS? Where I do I get that custom .hpt file?
