The higher speeds need horsepower....I wouldn't think a V-6 could get to 155 in the first place.

What rpm would the V-6 be........to drive 155 if it could?

when i was going 130 my rpms werent hardly up at all..the car had plenty of peddle left and the car was moving as smooth as it does going 50. i have no doubt in my mind that if i had enough straight road i could do 155 easy. but i live in W.V. and its a miracle i found enough flat area to reach 130..well it wasnt flat anyway. it was up hill and around a curve..but done it anyway. but it ran beautifully and no doubt if its not restricted near 130 then id be able to make it to 155 if thats where it is registered.

Your tires are rated for the speed that it’s governed at. The RS is governed at 155 because the tires can handle the punishment at that speed. If you plan on doing that speed do yourself a favor and get the right speed rated tires. At high speed your tires get really hot and will try to expand past the normal rate, thus increasing the chases greatly of a blowout.

The P Zero's I believe are speed rated to 186 mph, car limited to 155 mph for obvious reasons. For example ....how did you get hit in the rear for going over 155 mph
was it a plane hit that car in the back a 500mph

lol o shit shoooooo pppooowwww dive bomber

not tire's it's all new american cars are 155 cpu limited by law

it takes 275 hp on 3000 lbs to do 150 mph ... it takes 1000hp on 3000 lbs to do 220mph lol what a drag!!!!!!

Not any law I've heard about. And there are American cars, 2010+, that are capable of going well over 155 mph. From what I understand, the Camaro's P-Zeros are indeed rated for 155 while other vaiants on that tire are rated for 186. I would guess that this has to do with the overall diameter of the tire.

And you are certainly wrong about power, weight, and speed. Weight does not matter for top speed. Its power and drag. For example, the 1001 hp Veyron can go 253 mph. It weighs a staggering 4500 lbs. The C6 Corvette is one of the most aerodynamic cars out there right now, its got both a small frontal area and a very sleek body. If you wanted it to go 220 mph, it would only take about 550 hp (at the wheels, with perfectly matched gearing, and enough test track to do so).

Not that I would ever doubt or challenge your knowledge DG because you bring great wisdom to these forums but pictures on this forum show that the tires are 106Y on the rear:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...?t=8826&page=3

Additionally Tirerack shows OEM as 106Y on the rear (103Y on the front):

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....utoModClar=2SS

That would lead me to believe that they are rated to 186MPH. Possibly GM is somewhat following Germany's old lead:

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/by-...hall-be-known/

Who knows but we shouldn't be running 155 on the highway anyway....noticed I said shouldn't....

Flame suit on

All cars sold in the USA should be governed to 100 mph MAX unless you specifically need a higher speed (ie track racing)...

I dunno, loose control at 155+, start spinning and hit something stationary while inverted.

I know my v6 with 18 inch rims tops out at 118 because I've done it before and the screen said speed limited to 118 mph
