You just answered a post from 2012...

These are Pre-Production ZL1s. You will only find this on page one. My old car 00023 is top of page 2 where the actual production starts. Pre-Production cars are driven by GM personnel to make sure they are ready for the public. Most of them are sold after the fact with miles on them which is what you are seeing. Their VINs are just like any other car coming off the line (lower number built first) but they are not part of the numbering system starting from 001, 002... |

Is this the case for 2015's???? There are just too many anomalies on the registry to truly believe what is there for Production Dates. I could see a few maybe in the early dates but once you get into regular production after June or July there should not be cars with early production numbers?

When you see a date error you can bet it should have been a number in-between the entry above and below it. I'm friends with the site owner and will ask him about it. Here's one that is waaay off. No way this car was built in 2014. |

Thanks I feel better now. I sent a note to the Registry and asked if they check or verify anything. Did not yet hear back.
With all of the fake news around these days it would be nice to have data you can rely on.

I would bet those VINs are dead on. Build dates are a little subjective but pretty darn close as well other than what you've brought up. The data we have here on counts and colors is straight from GM but no one is going to correlate VINs with build dates which is why the registry was started. |
