wheel hub bearing assembly.

is the wheel hub the same between an SS and a Z28? my 1LE axles fit the ss hub. I need the wheel hub bearing assembly. I have a part number of23103315. gray moment. I don't know where I got that number. my parts guy said its a Z28 number. will it fit? axles same size ? 1LE and Z28? I read somewhere here that the only difference in axles is the temperature of the grease installed. true? and are the front to rear hub assemblies the same? part number etc? starting to get old and depressed. oh, too late Im already too old! help me little brothers you've always been good to me. the oldman.........

1) The part # you gave, 23103315 does not show up on GM parts websites. The part # probably should be 23103115,that is a 1LE # but that is only for the front.

2)The Z/28 part# is #25954415. This part # will fit at the front and will fit the rear 1LE axles. The 1LE axles are the same as the Z/28

This thread has lots of good info:

And this:

Mgizzle is a GM brake engineer. His info is golden.

I don't know anything more about the difference in the axles.

This is a what several us have used, from this supplier, with no complaints that I have found. Several of the road racers have used them, including Hammdo.

I just R/Red my left rear hub as i was getting an abs sensor code. I had a tab from the axle washer broken off and stuck to the tone ring. I had it done in 30 minutes (with an impact). Easy job.

green hornet2, you pulled your whole hub in 10 minutes? please tell me how you did it. cause that's gonna change my whole ball game. cause I was going to change my bearings. got the 1LE/Z28 hubs was gonna change them and see if the grinding howl leaves. if it gets too involved i'll pull the punkin check the pattern myself before I call the guy that put my gears in. if there is no problem with the pattern it could be the truetrac itself. regardless I hate doing something twice.

30 minutes. Using an impact. Lift, remove wheel, remove axle nut, remove caliper, remove rotor set screw, remove rotor, 3 bolts for the hub loosened by hand then the impact fit to zip em out. Hub comes right out, cleaned tone ring then reversed.

Reused all my bolts. No loctite. My axle nut is not the stock nut though it can be reused. Torqued axle nut to 200lbft

Don't you have to have a puller to the the hub out of the dish? About to tackle this also

No, they aren't press fit. They are held in by 3 bolts. Mine came out by hand. Just free the axle shaft from the hub with a punch and hammer that's usually the only part that sticks on these. Or at least the ones I've done.

The calipers are technically supposed to have new bolts.

I re-torqued mine once but when I replaced rotors and pads recently I did ere to the side of caution and replace the caliper bolts.
