FULL 3M 1080 Satin Black Vinyl Wrap

This is my 2011 2LT with a full vinyl wrap using 3M 1080 Satin Black. I did this myself with the help of 2 friends over two weekends. It was very frustrating at times but fun and very worth it. Its not 100% perfect but its far from horrible. I think we did an awesome job. I have since finished the inside of the side mirrors and re-wrapped the passenger side skirt. My car is yellow so changing it to black requires every part of the car to be covered or the yellow shows.

Anyhow, heres the pics (not great). Any questions on wrapping Ill try to answer the best I can. The materials were around $700 for the vinyl and wrapping tools. It took us 30 hours or so to finish and that was taking the bumpers, door handles, sharkfin, and side mirrors off.

Squeegee, Heat Gun, sharp razor blades, knifeless tape, Primer 94 (for the edges). I think thats it as far as wrapping. Obviously the correct hand tools if you are taking the car apart. The best tip I can give it to have as many hands as possible holding and stretching the vinyl while one person squeegee it down. I could not imagine doing this alone.

The hardest parts were the bumpers and the rear quarter panels a close second. The doors, front fenders, hood, roof, and trunk were simple.

Wow great job always wanted to do this to preserve the paint on the car. Too nervous to tackle those complex curves like the bumpers and side mirrors.

No, with the 3M 1080 series you use a dry application. Its ready to go out of the box. Just peel and stick.
