Yeh...its fake news. Looks like maybe a 50 mph hit. That was a slow race. Look at the video, the woman doesn't even stop or slow down in an attempt to judge the speed of on coming traffic. The woman is at fault.

If you want to street race do it in a place where you can only kill yourself or the other person you are racing.

Last fall my Family and I were on vacation in the Mountains of Virginia, we approach a blind curve and here comes one of these Lexus type vehicles hitting the corner in the opposite direction at probably triple the posted speed limit and 1/2 way into my lane, almost got us as we had to drive into the grass beside the road to avoid. There were 5 of us in the van 3-children.

No one is down playing anything, look at the video. The woman failed to yield to oncoming traffic. If she were hit at really high rate of speed she too would be in the hospital and the car that hit her would have been disabled. A really high speed impact would done a lot more damage to her car.

Either the woman was texting or she's just a terrible driver. She turned right in front and doesn't even seem like the car was going all that fast as in racing speeds. If I were the woman I would be worried about a lawsuit from the parents of the 2nd child. Sad. And I agree it is fake news...seems like news put their own spin on the situation to sensationalize the video.

Speeding on public roads is dangerous! There are so much stuff that can happen, it's just not worth it.
Oh I think everyone speeds. No one is really against that. We are against street racing.

so just doing some ghetto timing on the video, the car before she turns crosses the intersection in about 1.5 seconds. The mustang does so, while also entering oncoming traffic lanes, in just under a second. Hard to time it really well.. but the Camaro/Mustang appear to be going quicker than the other traffic.

I do completely agree that she could have avoided this.. and quite frankly this would have happened to her sooner or later anyways with her terrible driving.

I really want to know what evidence they have of street racing.. they aren't putting up a $25,000 reward on just this video. I found other stories on it with some minor updates, but nothing talking about witnesses, the camaaro driver confessing, etc.

Judging by speed of other cars, does not look like racing. Looks like impatient driver making a left and miscalculating how close other traffic was.

There is event data recorder and i'm sure lawyers want at it.

Proves she was a bad driver. She should have tapped her gas pedal not her brake.

It does appear she turned in front of them and other cars still had the light coming the same direction so obviously she didn't have a left turn signal at the light. Its sad her children were injured. They should also see if she was on her phone, she has to take some of the blame. They will be able to go back and pull info from the cars ecu to see what speed the car was traveling and also see prior to the impact if the car was at WOT. Street racing is dangerous and if they do find that to be the case he will be in a shit load of trouble.

It -APPEARED the car hitting her was somewhat over reasonable speed on intersection approach, but that was a left turn that shouldn't have happened. I doubt if street racing was actually occurring.

But we ain't a bunch of angels, we tend to enjoy a blast now & then.

City streets aren't the only place to get clothes-lined. Out here, a moose can easily take out a car/truck with drastic results. Something to think about when in the country....

When she turned the cars coming the other direction were right there in front of her; It looks like no what speed the Camaro was going it would have hit her.

She pulls across traffic into the path of on coming vehicles and the other guys is at fault?

I dont care what they were doing, it was her fault. You need to pay attention and drive defensively.

Unfortunately, those little girls are paying the price for her bad decision making or lack of attention to the task at hand. I love how we live in a world of not taking responsibility for our own actions these days.
Sorry, but from the evidence produced in this thread its on her until i see new evidence that prooves different.
Two wrongs dont make a right. Maybe they should be charged with street racing if that is prooven, but she should be charged for causing the crash.
I will agree however that racing on a city street is a bad idea simply because too many drive the way that women did. Keep it late at night and were there is no other traffic or property like homes or businesses to hit.

Street racers are dumdasses.

Plain and simple.

Just like people who drink and drive.

Both know it's illegal, both know the risks, both know they could possibly kill people with their actions.

Lock them all up, throw away the key.
