Opinions on best all around tire??

From what people have or have had what are the best tires for a summer use only 650+ wheel hp...opinions please......having a hard time deciding on drag radials or a regular street tire. Car is just a driver. No racing or drag strip. Just want the power when needed and obviously these GYs are garbage for my HP.
THANKS

I've never had 'em personally, but I've seen MANY people have this exact sentiment about the R888R's.

Those and the MPSS 4s were the two I’m stuck on. 315s. The goto is 315/30/20. That shouldn’t affect to much in the difference in sidewall should it?

I had the MPSS's on my C6 and although they were a huge improvement over the GY's, they will not hold HP nearly as well as the R888R. That being said, the Michleins are a great all round tire and will definitely outlast the Toyo's.

I've heard good things about the Continental DWS.

.....on a Cavalier, sure.
R888 is a track-focused tire, MPS4S is a summer-only UHP tire, and you recommend an all season?

Good enough for the power you are making.

I agree with this statement... when he's running 93 in his car. I'm running the DWS06 tires at 630, but they are right at the limit of good traction in my opinion. They spin in 1st, spin a little at the top of 2nd, but then are good in 3rd.

Since his is a good-weather driver, I'd slap the R888R's on there and call it a day.

I, on the other hand, am okay with the minor traction compromise of the DWS06 since I daily drive my car. Once I increase my power level in a couple of weeks, I'm going to need a different solution though (probably another set of wheels with summer tires on them). Mod hell strikes again.

You will be happy. They are a bit noisy, so I just give it more gas and never hear it.
