dunno how that is going to affect our camaro allotment if it does at all. Also GM has bonus they payout @ year end....and its based on how many cars you sell that year. I had 110 up to July's numbers. I have no idea how that will affect my $$, training classes, etc. I might have to call GM tomorrow.

All of that will transfer for you. It is just like you quit and went to another GM dealership.

Scottsdale, AZ., Sept. 24, 2008 - According to Automotive News' Chrissie Thompson, Bill Heard Enterprises, the country's top Chevrolet dealer group, is closing the doors at all of its 13 dealerships at the end of business today, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

The company notified the stores' general managers at 2 p.m. today, the source said, who spoke anonymously because he was not authorized to speak.

High fuel prices, cancelled floorplanning from GMAC Financial Services, a reliance on trucks and SUVs, a soft national economy and struggles in local markets had troubled the company, which on Sept. 12 closed its store in Scottsdale, Ariz.

In the end, the company could not raise operating capital and could not finance its floorplan, the source said. Company officials have discussed closing the company since Friday, the source said.

Bill Heard Enterprises, of Columbus, Ga., ranks No. 13 on the Automotive News list of the top 125 U.S. dealership groups, with 2007 group revenue of $2.13 billion.

GM plans to open these back up, though -

Are you sure from what I can remeber, It does not follow you from store to store and every dealership does not participate in the program. I know that when I was on the floor and even now as a manager my perks did not transfer. I had to start all over.

Sometimes good does defeat evil. Bill Heard (Good ol' Bill), had $50 MILLION in fines pending by the the State Attorney General's office for deceptive advertising and deceptive practices. Now I hope they shut down Ed Morse in FL.

You are correct, they do not transfer. As for the bonus money, half is paid by the dealer and half by GM. Best of luck to you.

I know that your training records will transfer. i thought that the $50 per new car transfered as well. Pretty sure you are screwed on the dealer match.

The main reason Heard closed was due to their deceptive practices. They are notorious for bait and switch, sending out fake recall notices to try to get sales. There was a really big lawsuit that shut them down (including the economy of course too).

Yep, Bill Heard was run out of Nashville TN a couple of years back after an undercover news story was done showing how they ripped off their customers. They were HUGE crooks here in Mid TN.

Yep. I'm glad they're gone. News stories about them were crazy.

Wow! That is crazy! It seems that most of the dealerships havent actually closed, just restructuring under new management. Sure, they were crooks and their fines and lawsuits helped put the screws to them... but I can't help but think that the economy also played a role. For a company to have so much money tied up in legal expenses, combined with the credit crunch, this comes to me as no surprise. Legal services also work off of credit... and if you are not creditable counsel can drop you like a rock. From the article, it sounds like they ran out of liquid assets.

Like one of my favorite political commentators quickly mentioned, it is funny how the economy itself can take care of problems the US has been fighting for years. The drop in the value of the dollar and the big spike in unemployment has drastically reduced illegal immigration into this country. Thus, the ailing economy seems to have tighened our borders.

update.....as of last Sat. 10/11/2008 Bill Heard in Sugarland,TX is closed. It was open all last week but on Sat you couldn't even pull into the drive from the feeder. They had cones along the side of the road. last I heard they weren't closing, just changing owners. Will wait and see. Maybe they had to shut it down until all the signage and paperwork is changed. Still have a full lot of cars.
